(Academic writing serves as a tool of communication that conveys acquired knowledge in a specific field of study. Writing academically will help students analyse, convey understanding,
think critically and focus on technique and style. On the other hand, reading is the foundation of all learning knowledge. With it, the broader world is within your grasp. Literacy is the
benchmark for most academic success, from understanding assignments, to solving story problems in math, to writing an essay. As one reading teacher says, “Literacy is priceless.”

-It describes a topic and its characteristics such as details and adjectives.
-It describes so that you have the image in your mind.
Example:
The famous Leaning Tower of Pisa located in Italy. It stands over 180 ft. tall, tilted four degrees like it’s starting to fall.
What is described: Tower of Pisa, What are the descriptions: famous leaning tower, located in Italy, stands over 180 ft., tilted four degrees, starting to fall

2. SEQUENCE
- It gives events from way back to most recent.
-It contains dates and the words Next, Then, Before, First, Second, and Third.
Example:
Construction began in 1173, but it was halted when war was decreed. Building stopped for a while, then resumed many years later in 1272.

3. CAUSE AND EFFECT


-It is another way to organize.
-It’s when authors tell what happened and why.
Words like because, since, if, then, due to mean a cause and effect is coming right to you.
Example:

Soft soil made tower settle unevenly. As a result, it leaned uncreasingly. Builders tried to balance it with more floors, but due to extra weight, it leaned even more.

4. COMPARE AND CONTRAST


-It explains how things are different and the same.
Example:
Both the Tower of Pisa’s construction and the Washington Monuments’ saw disruption. The Washington Movement, named after George, had construction paused for civil war.
Like the Leaning Tower, it took years to finish, but the purpose of the buildings were different. One was erected as a church bell’s tower, while the other honored a Frending Father.

5. PROBLEM AND SOLUTION


-An author introduces a problem and then explains how somebody solved it.
Example:
The tower leaned more with each passing century. The tilt increased to more than five degrees. The people feared it would collapse into ruins.
Earth was removed from under the monument, and weights were added to balance out the top of it.

3. Freezer burn may have wasted more ice-cream than sidewalks. If you don’t know, freezer burn is when ice crystals form on the surface of ice-cream. These ice crystals can ruin the texture and flavor of the ice
cream. But you can prevent freezer burn. Since freezer burn is caused when melted ice-cream is refrozen, rather than eating your ice-cream from the container as it melts, scoop your ice-cream into a bowl and
put the container back in the fridge immediately. Doing this ought to help you solve your issues with freezer burn.

4. No one knows the true origin of ice-cream, but the first published ice-cream recipe appears in “Mrs. Mary Eales's Receipts,” a cook book that was printed in London in 1718. Sometime around 1832, an African
American confectioner named Augustus Jackson created multiple ice cream recipes and invented a superior technique to manufacture ice cream. Ice cream soda was invented around 1874, but the real
breakthrough

5. Making ice-cream is not easy. Cream and sugar have to first be mixed in a frozen container. Ingredients may be added at this point, if desired. The mixture must be stirred and whipped until the cream and
