Covid Effects
Covid Effects
1. Stress
2. Overload of information
In such circumstances, we tend to miss nuances of health and safety messages by;
These are the ingredients of disaster and generally people are going through this. This all
creates uncertainty, fear, dread hopelessness and helplessness. Our mind goes in the state of
denial. But we must seek special treatments and try to come with positive responses but
keeping risk perception in view.
I would try my best to control my emotions and not to go into an emotional shock or emotional
numbness. I should control my anger and grief. I should not allow situation to overwhelm me or
have heightened anxiety. At the same time I should not have loss of emotional control or panic.
It has made me very vigilant. I don’t make abrupt decision about things either in denial or in
acceptance of anything. I have been more cautious and little bit rigid in my behavior.
Solution 2:
As we know, crises show different colors of human behavior, sometimes exceeding
expectations and sometimes below standards. This is a clear reflection of your mental state. In
such situations, people rarely react irrationally and are generally very stable. This reflects your
psychological behavior in difficult situations, your emotional control and, ultimately, your
character and behavior in crisis.
Pandemics can be confusing, so these times require simple, understandable messages. History
teaches that much of the loss was understood by misunderstandings, not by the pandemic. The
priority of such an emergency must be clearly defined in terms of safety, a clear assessment of
the situation, necessary support and environmental safety.
All this panic and related behaviors are avoidable only if we channelize our mind accordingly.
Humans are gifted with the ability and capacity to cope any situation. What we need is precise,
accurate and clear information. If provided what is required then our actions can change in 360
degree. Because safety is one of the basic requirements and if we are provided information to
be safe then even in crisis our response can be very satisfactory and encouraging. For example,
currently in China in epidemic of Covid-19, people of Wuhan showed behavior that was based
on clear information that was based on some logical analysis. We have seen that it took some
time but eventually that have cleared themselves from this epidemic.
Solution 3:
Parallel thinking is something not done commonly. But it is something that can be very useful
especially in crisis. When done in a group it effectively avoids consequences of the adversarial
approach. This leads to exploration of the subject where all participants can contribute with
knowledge, facts, feelings etc.
It is better to anticipate every opportunity and plan for all the vulnerabilities of the crisis. This is
possible if you can think in parallel. In other words, our plans need to be flexible enough to
respond to changing conditions. Consciousness, acceptance and self-confidence can do all of
this if you train your mind in the fog of the situation. Remember that there is no training or
second chance. Parallel thinking is a necessity for crisis and, sometimes, the only solution.
If you like one of these personalities, you may overestimate and underestimate others, but
others in the group will do the same. And when we all ignore each other and emphasize
individual priorities, the confusion begins.
However, if you can organize your conversation considering all these personality traits, your
thoughts will be clearer and you will be able to develop more reliable ideas and plans.
