Installing Operating System(Ubuntu) via VirtualBox

Step1: Visit www.virtualbox.org and download the latest version of virtualbox


as per your system specifications.

Step2: Install the downloaded file.


Step3: Visit www.osboxes.org/ubuntu/ and download the image of the version
of ubuntu you require as per your system architecture.(VDI file for Virtualbox).
NOTE: You can also get the images of various other operating systems under
the same website.
Step4: Extract the downloaded file to a directory you prefer using WinRAR.
Step5: Run virtual box. You will get a window as shown in the image below:

Step6: From the top panel on the right hand side , select ‘New’. A window as
shown below will pop up:
Step 7: Perform the following adjustments as per the image above:
i) Set Name, Machine Folder(directory) as per your choice. Set
‘Linux’ in ‘Type’ and set ‘Version’ according to the VDI file you
downloaded.
ii) Assign the RAM to the virtual machine by sliding the slider or
typing in the box. (2048 mb recommended)
iii) Choose ‘Use an existing virtual hard disk file’ and browse the file
by clicking the folder icon as marked in the image above.

Step8: A window as shown in the image below will appear:

Click Add from the top panel and select the extracted VDI file that you
downloaded from its directory as shown below:
After selecting the VDI file, click Open.

Click ‘Create’.
Step9: Select the machine that you created from left panel and click ‘Start’
from the right-hand top panel as illustrated in the image below:

Your Machine will start, and you will be directed to the login page.

Note: For the osboxes VDI file, the initial password will be: osboxes.org
Finally, you will be logged into your account where you can perform all the
tasks like in a full-fledged ubuntu operating system.
