Henderson’s Classroom Policies and Procedures

Pre-Algebra: 1 Credit Textbook: N/A


This is a course designed to help students obtain the skills necessary for success in a future, full-year
algebra course. Geometry content is also included in this course. Topics will include, but will not be limited
to, solving equations, systems, linear and quadratic equations and more

Algebra I: 1 Credit Textbook: Algebra 1 McGraw Hill


This is a course designed around simplifying and solving expressions and equations. Graphing
linear, quadratic, absolute value, and exponential functions will be covered. Geometric topics
include coordinate plane, distance formula, Pythagorean Theorem, volume and area formulas,
trigonometric ratios, parallel and perpendicular lines, and solving right triangles.

MASKS
We must all do our part. Masks must be worn covering the nose and mouth at all times unless taking a
drink of water.
Classroom Rules
1. Be on time.
a. You will be in your seat when the bell begins to sound/ring.
b. Have materials out and ready before the bell rings.
c. Begin class bellwork upon entering
2. Be respectful.
a. You will show respect toward others and their belongings.
b. You will allow others in the classroom to learn.
c. You will allow others in the classroom to work without being interrupted or bothered.
d. You will allow others to make mistakes without being laughed at or made fun of.
e. You will allow others to participate in class without being disturbed or ridiculed
f. You will keep hands, feet, and all other objects to yourself
g. You will take care of the classroom and school including any materials that belong to them.
h. You will not use put downs of ANY kind, even if you “are joking”.
3. Be a student.
a. You will follow all classroom rules and procedures.
b. You will follow directions QUICKLY and QUIETLY the FIRST time they are given.
c. You will actively and appropriately participate in class.
d. You will make an HONEST EFFORT to understand and ask questions as needed.
e. You will keep up with all classroom assignments / requirements.
f. You will bring ALL required materials to class EVERY DAY.
Consequences
If YOU CHOOSE to not follow the classroom expectations, consequences will be given in the order of
the handbook. / “T” chart.

Math Materials
The following materials MUST be brought to math class EVERY DAY. I will NOT loan items to you unless it
is a class project that I have planned and intend to supply materials for the entire class.
● Math textbook (provided) ● Calculator (TI-30XS, TI-30xa, or TI-30XIIS)
● Student Planner-passes (provided) ● Additional optional classroom items that
● PENCILS would be appreciated throughout the year:
● Paper-loose leaf or spiral kleenex, hand sanitizer, clorox wipes,
● Folder or spiral notebook w/folders

Classwork / Homework Policy


Classwork and homework are due upon the teacher’s request. Late work WILL NOT be accepted. It is YOUR
responsibility to get your work turned in. See student handbook for school policy regarding late work.

Make-Up Work Policy


If you are absent from school, please check your school email, google classroom and homework website for
missing work. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to get your make-up work.and to submit it on time according to
school guidelines. See student handbook, chapter 2 Make-up work, for more information.

Cell Phone Policy


Upon entering the classroom please place your cell phone and smartwatch in the designated location.
Devices should be OFF or silent or in airplane/do not disturb mode. Should your device go off during class
or is not placed in the designated location prior to the bell ringing, you will be asked to take it to the office
immediately. A phone call to the office will be placed so that the office knows to expect you.

Water bottle Policy


Must be in a CLEAR bottle so that water may be easily seen
Must contain WATER only
Must use a pass to fill a water bottle during class

Hall Pass Policy


Must have your planner to utilize a pass

Tardy Policy
You are considered tardy if you are not seated in your seat when the bell rings. Tardies will be addressed
per school policy. Chapter 2 tardiness

Grading System (see handbook)


A 90-100
B 80-89 A student’s grade will be
figured based on weight.
C 70-79
D 60-69 Pre-Alg- Practice: 45%
Performance: 55%
F Below a 60%

is expected for the day.
