FINAL PAPER 2
Imagine life being different two hundred years from now. People have changed their
ways and leaned towards conserving and protecting Planet Earth. In 2220, people live
harmoniously with nature. Mankind realized that conservation efforts should be carried out and
stop from exploiting the environment since if this planet dies, and so are we. If not for the
occurrence of natural calamities that tested the resilience of mankind, we will not be able to
realize that we should change our ways. Many people believed that the occurrences of natural
calamities as prophesied by the teachings of almost all religions are the signs of the impending
end of the world. From there, initiatives towards reducing carbon emission that heightens the
temperature of ocean waters were carried out in order to lessen the frequency and gravity of
natural disasters like typhoon and hurricanes. Activities harmful to the atmosphere were also
changed so that chemicals we are emitting into the ozone layer will be lessened to reduce Earth’s
temperature. Basically, people stopped from exploiting natural resources and destroying the
planet just to satisfy human needs and demands. We resorted to healthier and more
mankind to save and to allow the planet to regenerate helped in reducing and eliminating land
erosion and degradation, water and air pollution and glacier melting. Basically, mankind was
able to utilize its technology and knowledge for the benefit of the planet and all non-living and
living creatures. In 2220, we are able to fulfill our roles and duties as the stewards of Planet
Earth.
Fortunately, Planet Earth was able to revitalize through high-degree of initiatives and
efforts to preserve and conserve the planet. Due to conservation efforts, more than 95% of the
endangered species of animals were saved from being extinct. Aside from the animals, various

species of plants were also saved and conserved. Ruth Gates is considered as one the pioneers in
terms of carrying out a successful conservation efforts of the Earth. Ruth Gates’ vision was to
restore coral reefs destroyed by coral bleaching. Replenishing aquatic lives such as coral reefs
can help in restoring the ocean ecosystem. According to Schiffman (2016), the primary objective
of Ruth Gates is to hasten the natural adaptation process of the coral reefs in relation to changes
in the environment. Ruth Gates and her team were able to realize their vision and led positive
transformation of the ocean ecosystem through the restoration of the coral reefs. Their initiatives
and conservation efforts helped in conserving marine biodiversity which produces positive
impacts on other natural resources and living creatures even on the land surface.
Aside from the life-changing initiative of Ruth Gates, the agricultural sector was also
transformed through a revolutionary approach to farming. One of the most innovative means of
farming developed to address environmental concerns is the no-till farming method. In this type
of farming, the crop site will be allowed to develop its own abundance of plants and other
organisms like animals since it will be left on their own. No-till farming is employed by planting
the seeds straight off into the soil by creating little but deep hole within the crop site to be farmed
and letting the vegetation upon the topsoil. According to Bensel & Carbone (2020), no-till
farming is advantageous since it requires minimal water and electric consumption and lessen the
degradation of lands. Derpsch et al. (2019) mentioned that this method of farming became
popular due to its advantages and convenience of producing crops and agricultural products
while conserving the environment. Even in areas with extreme conditions, no-till farming is
being practiced.
One of the advantages of no-till farming approach is that it does not require huge amount
of water supply. This method of farming is an innovative approach to accommodate the growing

demand of the people for agricultural crops and conserving our water resources. Since this
farming method minimizes the usage of a water system that can pollute the ground water, Ruth
Gates and other individuals involved were successful in restoring the quality of ocean waters.
Their environmental efforts also resulted to revitalization of different forms of waters such as
rivers, springs and lakes that made these water sources suitable again for drinking. Regulations
and programs intended for protecting the environment limit the human and industrial activities
that potentially harm the nature. Basically, the effective implementation of environmental laws
helped in prohibiting perpetrators and industries from exploiting the natural resources and
environment..
The policies and measures in order to conserve the environment resulted to amplified
environmental programs and activities from the industries to communities and localities.
Furthermore, due to globalization and capitalism, people flock towards urban areas resulting to
highly congested cities. Due to high volume of population living in highly-urbanized areas, the
waste and garbage from these cities are also a huge environmental concern. In order to address
this problem, one of the measures being carried out is the construction of a waste water treatment
system. This system is used to lessen toxic substances emitted by sewer water by recycling the
same to be suitable again for utilization of the communities for different purposes. The
development of water treatment system also helps in conserving ground water and protecting it
from the harmful substances emitted by the wastes coming from human activities.
Aside from the water resources, efforts to improve other resources are also carried out.
Nowadays, many people and organizations are leaning towards the utilization of solar energy as
an alternative of producing electricity. Several industries are also combining using wind and
solar energy as sources of energy for their production and manufacturing processes. Furthermore,
FINAL PAPER 5
automobile manufacturers are also developing new designs of vehicles that use clean-burning
fuels such as bio-diesel in order to substitute petroleum diesels. There also developments in the
utilization and burning of fuel products that can harm the environment. Furthermore,
environmental projects such as recycling and community-based farming help in reducing the
reliance of the people on industrial activities in order to produce their daily needs. These
initiatives are instrumental in recreating a healthier, greener and safer world for the current and
In order to make these things happen, it is important for the government to initiate the
transformation by putting stoppage on the reliance on fossil fuels. Government authorities should
stop focusing on their personal interests and agenda. Efforts towards conservation of natural
resources and utilization of cleaner and more sustainable sources of energy must be promoted
and carried. Investments and programs intended for conserving the environment and its natural
resources should be made by the government. The involvement of the private sector will also be
instrumental in ensuring that we will save this planet against the harmful effects of human
environment for the benefit of our planet and next generations. Those individuals with power and
authority should be the one to initiate these efforts in order to influence the greater majority of
the population. In order for the initiative to promote best practices of protecting the planet will
necessary that these products will be affordable so that everyone will be given the opportunity to
purchase and use them. It is also important the investments to promote these merchandises to the
