productivity and self-sufficiency and to translate development goals towards the attainment of a better
quality of life.

I. Course Description:

The course aims to develop practical and creative skills in reading and writing; introduce students to the
fundamental techniques of writing fiction, the workshop of students’ drafts toward the enrichment of their
manuscripts. Students learn how to combine inspiration and revision, and to develop a sense of form,
poetry, and drama; and discuss the use of such techniques by well-known authors in a variety of genres.
Each class will be devoted to the examination of techniques

II. Course Objectives:

Upon completing this course, students will:


 Gain experience in producing original writing in a number of genres: poetry, short story,
creative nonfiction and plays
 Demonstrate the ability to read and analyze creative writing as a model or context for
creating original work.
 Demonstrate the ability to generate critical, specific feedback in a creative environment
 Demonstrate knowledge of a wide range of writing genres gained experientially through
creating original texts in those genres
