SECTION 07180
CEMENT-BASED WATERPROOF COATING
PART 1 - GENERAL
1.1 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
A. Work of this Section shall be governed by the Contract Document. Provide materials, labor,
equipment and services necessary to furnish, deliver and install all work of this Section as
shown on the Drawings, as specified herein and/or as required by job conditions.
1.2 SECTION INCLUDES
A. Coment - based waterproof coating shall be applied to concrete floor and wall of water
tanks, all toilet room concrete floors below underbed of ceramic tile.
1.3 SUBMITTALS
A. Product Data: Provide details of product description, test performed, limitations of
coating, cautionary procedures required during application.
B. Manufacturer’s Installation Instructions: Indicate special procedures and conditions
requiring special attention.
C. Manufacturer’s Certificate: Certify that products meet or exceed specified requirements.
1.4 QUALIFICATIONS
A. Manufacturer: Company specializing in manufacturing the Product specified in this
section with minimum 3 years documented experience.
B. Applicator: Company specializing in performing the work of this section with
minimum 3 years documented experience approved by manufacturer.
1.5 ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENT
A. Do not apply coating when the temperature is below 40oF.
PART 2 - PRODUCT
2.1 MANUFACURERS
A. TAMMS “TAMOSEAL”
B. FOSROC “BRUSHBOND”
C. THORO SEAL
D. Equivalent approved by the Engineer.

2.2 MATERIALS
A. Coating: Cement- based waterproof coating.
B. Mixing: Mix cement-based waterproof coating with mixing liquid in accordance with
manufacturer’s instructions.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.1 EXAMINATION
A. Verify surfaces to be coated are dry, clean and free of latitance, efforescence, oil or other
matter detrimental to application of coating.
3.2 PREPARATION
A. Delay work until concrete substrate is cured a minimum of 60 days.
B. Remove loose particles and foreign matter.
C. Remove oil or foreign substance with a chemical solvent which will not affect coating.
D. Patch all holes and voids. Areas to be patched must be dampened with water prior to
patching.
E. Scrub and rinse surfaces with water and let dry.
F. Vacuum sweep or blow out areas to be patched.
3.3 APPLICATION
A. Apply coating in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.
B. Apply in two continuous, uniform coats, to receive a smooth finish with natural concrete
color.
3.4 PROTECTION TO FINISHED AND ADJACENT WORK
A. Protect adjacent surfaces not scheduled to receive coating.
B. If applied to unscheduled surfaces, remove immediately by a method instructed by coating
manufacturer.
