Distribition Transformer Design

The document is a comparison of the design parameters of a distribution transformer calculated using a software tool and through manual calculations. Several parameters such as core thickness, winding thicknesses and widths, and losses show percentage differences between 30-100% due to factors like different transformer specifications used, human errors in calculations, and variations in formulas between calculations and the software. The software and manual calculation results generally agree on parameters like number of turns but differ significantly for parameters involving dimensional calculations.

3. HV leg current 6.1 n/a A _ _

4. Thickness of the core leg 230 71.7 mm 104.9 In formula,
there is a
value of
FDmax,
Magnetic
Induction
vary
transformer

transformer
. This may
be a big
reason
For the
difference.
5. LV layer insulations 1 0.28 mm 66.66 This
calculated
value is for
copper foil
with
thickness
0.79mm
but in
Software it
may be
Different.
6. HV layer insulation 0.5 0.28 57 The
mm calculated
value is for
wire having
diameter
1.8mm but
in software
it may
vary.
7. Number of LV turns 42 42 _ _

10. Width of the LV conductor with 224 440 mm 65 Calculation
the insulation error
11. Thickness of the LV winding 13.37 2.3542 mm 140.20 In its
formula
there
is a use of
ILVL as
well as
Layer

vary.
12. Total thickness of the LV winding 45 18.3542 mm 84.11 There is a
use of LV
winding in
its formula.
There is an
error in
thickness
so there
should be
an error in
total
thickness.
13. Number of HV turns 509.200 521.310 turns 2.35 Human
error
14. Number of HV layers 6.7 2.33 turns 98.33 This is due
to the
difference i n
the number
of turns.
15. Width of the HV layer 421 446 mm 5.77 Random
error
16. Width of the HV conductor with 1.33 1.911 mm 35.8 Factors
the insulation
given
under are
for 630kva
transformer
but
required
transformer
is of 200
kva.

17. Thickness of the HV winding 12 6.505 mm 59.38 Due to the

error in the
number of
layers of HV
18. Total thickness of the HV winding 19 13.145 mm 36.42 HV to HV
values are
used for
630kva so
its values
may vary
19. Window width of core 109 62.98 mm 53.5 Random
error
20. Weight of the core 143 147.14 Kg 2.85 Human
error
21. No-load loss n/a 274.89 W _ _
22. Load loss of the LV winding 2701 2476.1 W 8.7 Load Loss
depends on
various
factors like
D3 and D7
which are
also
dependent
on many
other factors
which are
given for
630KVA
transformer
and not
for 200KVA.
23. Load loss of the HV winding 4089 604.9 W 148.4 Load Loss
depends on
various
factors like
D9 and D13
which are
also
dependent
on many
other factors
which are
given for
630KVA
transformer
and not
for 200KVA.
24. Transformer load loss 6790 3251 W 70.4 Load Loss
of LV and
HV has an
error so
there
should be a
big error
present
there.
25. Weight of the LV winding 11 12.059 Kg 9.1 Random
error
26. Weight of the HV winding 16.2 20.95 Kg 25.5 Calculation
error
27. Coil length 841 405.03 mm 70 Coil length
depends on
the ducts of
HV and LV
winding and
there are no
value given
for 200kva.
28. Tank length 356 897.54 mm 87 It is due to
the error in
the value of
thickness of
core leg.
29. Tank width 878 443.03 mm 65.84 This is due
to the
difference in
the total
length of
