Mini Project Mac 2020

This document outlines the requirements for two mini projects on environmental impact assessments for a chemical industry plant project. For Mini Project 1, students must prepare an EIA report that includes an overview of the proposed project, an analysis of the existing environment through on-site visits, mitigation measures, public participation documentation, and water quality modeling. For Mini Project 2, students must prepare an EMP report that includes the project overview, environmental policy, monitoring programs, and contingency plans. Both reports involve site visits, documentation, modeling, and have deadlines in April and June for submission and presentations.

I. MINI PROJECT 1 : EIA REPORT OF A CHEMICAL INDUSTRY PLANT PROJECT

Description :

- Students are required to prepare and submit EIA report for a proposed chemical plant
project.
- You need to refer the EIA guideline for the content of the report. The content, at least:
i. Project overview
ii. Statement of need
iii. Project option
iv. Existing environment
v. Mitigating measure during construction and operation
vi. Public participation
vii. Cost and benefit
viii. Compliance and impact monitoring
- For existing environment and public participation; students have to conduct the plant site
visit during the week without wall
- As part of Chapter V deliverables, you are required to develop water quality model impact
assessment study using QUAL2K software on the river nearly the proposed location.
Modelling should be undertaken for three (3) scenario, namely baseline (existing
condition), future (with the project and normal operation of wastewater treatment plant)
and worst case (when treatment failure occurs). Make the appropriate assumptions and
data from the relevant sources.
