MiVoice Business
MiVoice Business Overview
Flexibility is the hallmark of MiVoice Business call control software. Whether a company has five
users or 65,000, MiVoice Business’s single software stream optimizes the communications
environment, delivering rich capabilities in voice, mobility, unified messaging, presence,
conferencing and collaboration.
MiVoice Business has no dedicated server hardware, but instead runs on industry-standard servers
(including those from HP, IBM, Oracle and Dell) in a virtualized VMware environment or on Mitel
proprietary MiVoice Business Controllers. It delivers the same powerful core call control features and
services regardless of the hardware platform. This means it will enhance (rather than replace) what
you already have in place, provide the choice of best-fitting, lowest-cost hardware, and establish a
solid foundation for future growth.
Migration to IP is smooth, whether a PBX is from Mitel or another supplier. No matter what stage of
IP transition a network is in, MiVoice Business maximizes your existing investment by cost-effectively
supporting legacy equipment, analog phones, fax machines, ISDN lines, and T1/E1 connections.
Focused on optimum integration and interoperability, Mitel currently supports well over 1,000 server
models and delivers an ever-evolving suite of open APIs to industry-leading software.
MiVoice Business’s open architecture also adapts easily to multi-vendor environments and supports
a host of protocols including SIP, QSIG, and DPNSS. This same level of flexibility enables Mitel
solutions to be deployed in either a virtual or non-virtual environment, or equally in a centralized,
distributed, public or private cloud. This enables smooth transitions (such as a move from a
distributed network to a private cloud) without the need to purchase a new solution. Instead, as the
network evolves over time, the MiVoice Business solution will evolve with it, without additional
expense.
Along with interoperability, MiVoice Business brings its own native features to the network including
leading-edge mobility capabilities and unified messaging. Built-in auto attendant, automatic call
distribution, Wi-Fi, and IP-DECT wireless gateway functionality combine with over 500 telephony
features such as hot desking and audio conferencing.
In addition, Mitel Dynamic Extension establishes a single identity for users communicating internally
or externally. It works with any device (desk phone, cellular, remote office, home phone) and extends
the corporate system to any location on any network. This improves the accessibility of the user,
reduces costs, and ensures first-call resolution.

Hardware Platform
MiVoice Business is a single, software stream that can be deployed on the hardware that best fits
your IT strategy of Mitel MiVoice Business Controllers (3300 AX) below which designed for small
hospitality requirements.

3300 CX II Controller

The Mitel 3300 3300 is a common platform for delivering PBX core functionality, analog trunks and
extension services. It comprises a 2 x Analong Service Unit II (ASU) hosting 24-port card provides 24
analog lines for provisioning extensions outside the building. The ports on this card are protected
against surge and lightning. The 12-port analog/4-port LS Trunk Combination card provides analog
line and trunk capability on a single card. Any card can fit into any slot and they can be inserted while
the system is operational.
The 12-port analog/4-port LS Trunk Combination card provides the following components:
• 12 analog lines for analog phones and four LS trunks for analog connection to a central
office. The analog ports on this card are protected against lightning.
• Four System Fail Transfer (SFT) relays that provide direct connection between an analog
phone and an LS trunk in the event of a system or power failure.
CLASS is supported on the analog circuits. CLASS allows the MiVoice Business system to pass calling
line ID digits and CLASS name information to display phones that support caller ID functionality.
The 3300 CX II can support up to 150 IP/SIP/Analog Devices and up to 36 LS trunks if trunks and
extensions used combined and E1 trunks interface plus Music on Hold or loudspeaker paging,
depending how the system is configured with line cards.

Analog Service Unit (ASU II)

The ASU II chassis can support up to 48 analog phones and up to eight LS trunks plus Music on Hold
or loudspeaker paging, depending how the unit is configured with line cards.
Analog Main Board/Analog Option. The MXe III and CX II Controllers support the Analog Main Board
(AMB). The CX II can also support the Analog Option Board (AOB).

3300 AX Controller

The Mitel 3300 AX is a common platform for delivering PBX core functionality, analog trunks and

Guest Experience
Mitel’s hospitality feature set has been continuously developed in line with industry requirements to
ensure Hospitality’s guests have a pleasant, hassle-free stay. When managing the guest experience,
little things do count like greeting your guests by name, ensuring failed wake-up calls are escalated
and managing guest privacy.
The Mitel hospitality template allows IP display telephones to be customised to hotel and guest room
requirements; for example, the Hospitality’s logo, information about hotel services and contact
points can be added to create an interactive voice-enabled device.
Staff Efficiency
Managing face-to-face guest interaction, hotel operations and telephone calls is challenging within
a busy hotel environment. Mitel provides a number of solutions to enable your staff to work
effectively at any location. Incoming calls can always be answered 24-7 using the integrated auto
attendant capability. Calls can be directed to members of staff, voicemail or recorded
announcements.
Customer-facing staff members are free to move around reception areas, meet and greet guests
and manage telephone calls using wireless headsets or handsets. Mobile staff can remain in contact
using wireless telephones with text messaging applications. Hotel proprietors and managers can

Mitel Hospitality Features


The proposed Mitel Hospitality Solution provides features commonly used by hotels, motels, and
hospitals. Each feature can work independently or in conjunction with a Property Management
System (PMS) to fully integrate with Hospitality business systems.
Hospitality’s will be empowered with the following capabilities:
• Check In and Check Out: Keep track of arrivals and departures.
• Occupancy Status: Set the condition and occupancy status of rooms.
• Display Information: View details for guest rooms, guests, and room extensions.
• VIP Status: Assign VIP to room extensions.
• Personal Wake-Ups: An attendant or hotel employee personally delivers the wake-up call to
a guest.
• Language Selection: Assign a specific language (up to 15 available) to guest room phones.
• Do Not Disturb (DND): Set DND for individual rooms or suites.
• Maid ID Codes: Mandatory maid identification for all room status/condition updates.
• Message Registration: Calculate the total cost of calls made from an individual room.
• Room Search: Search for rooms by room condition and occupancy status.
• Listen to room monitor extensions.
• Call Blocking: Prevent calls from being made between guest rooms.
• Call Restrict: Limit the types of calls guests can make from their room.

MiVoice Business includes a highly flexible Station Message Detail Reporting (SMDR) data collection
capability. It gathers data for outgoing and incoming trunk calls and internal station-to-station calls.
It also allows extensive SMDR record format changes to accommodate items such as international
ANI digit strings, attendant line appearances, or incomplete internal calls.

MiVoice Business Console

The MiVoice Business Console is an advanced PC-based IP console and administration


application used by operators to answer calls efficiently and accurately. A complete
attendant solution, it boasts an intuitive GUI that includes touch-screen support. Features
include direct station select (DSS) and busy lamp field (BLF) statuses for up to 5,000
extensions as well as color-customizable phone book data fields, incoming caller
identification, transferred calls and calls on hold screens, and unique functionality such as
a bulletin board and scratch pad.

Presence and instant messaging (IM) support through MiCollab Client allows the console
operator to see when someone is away from the desk, busy or does not want to be
disturbed. IM support lets operators quickly send messages to ask other users a question
while speaking to a caller. Through federation of MiCollab Client with other supported 3rd
presence servers such as Lync and Google, the operator can even see the status of
employees on the 3rd party presence servers.

With MiCollab Client integration, the operator can change the dynamic status of MiCollab
Client users--a very convenient feature for sick or travelling employees who are unable to
update their own status.
