Abstract
The writting of this Jurnal to intend develop a personality development module for
students and to become more familiar with existing literary works. As for the
background of this writting because describe and appreciation Literary works (1)
General Meaning ,(2) Detailed Meaning, (3) Characters, (4)Plot, (5) Conflict, (6)
Setting, (7) Theme, (8) as well as the educational values contained in the drama
Romeo and Juliet.
This method uses descriptive qualitative analysis. Collecting data through observation
and in the form of sentences in the form of expressions. This research is based on the
assumption that literary works are formed by extrinsist and intrinsic elements which
constitute the existence of literary works and plot is one of intrinsic elements.The
benefits of this research serve as a tool for understanding literary works.
Conclusion (1) General Meaning Romeo and Juliet were originally a tragic romance
in ancient times. The story Romeo and Juliet is bassed on a story in italy which was
transformed into a poem in the Tragical History of Romeus. (2) Detailed Meaning this
tragedy tells the story of a young bridge who fell in love,but was hindered because
their two families were hostile to each other. Romeo and juliet have been adapted
many times for the stage,film,music, and opera venue. The drama which took place in
Verona Italy.(3) Chracters contains relatively different characters. In addition to
eponymous protagonist,Romeo montaguedan and Juliet capulet the play contains roles
for family members and households respectively ,Prince escalus, ruler of the city and
his brother Prince of Paris. In addition the play contains two ghost Characters and
invisible characters.(4) Plot the plot is chronological plot,(5) Conflict the enmity of
the Montague and Capulet families,Romeo and Juliet secret marriage,and murders
commited Romeo.(6)Setting the story set in Verona (7) Theme major themes include
the discovery by characters that humans are not entirely good orcompletely evil but
are more or less the same.(8) Educational values Children in a respectable
