 Full hand milking

Full hand milking is done by grasping the teats with all five fingers and pressing it
against the palm. In this method the teat is compressed and relaxed alternately in quick
succession which helps to remove milk much quicker. The position of hand shouldn’t be
changed. It stimulates the natural sucking processes by calf and exerts an equal pressure
on the teat.

 Stripping
Stripping is done by firmly holding the teats between the thumb and forefinger and
drawing it down the length of teat and at the same time pressing it to cause the milk to
flow down in a stream. The position of finger should be changed. This is suitable if teats
are too small or towards completion of milking.

 Knuckling
Knuckling is done by firmly holding the teat between the forefingers and drawing it down
the length of teat and at the same time pressing it to cause the milk to flow down in a
stream. This is also suitable if teats are to smaller or towards completion of milk.

b. Machine milking
Machine milking is quicker and efficient without injuring the udder, if the machine is
installed properly work efficiently. The machine milking is used for large milk producer
animals like Jersey, Brown swiss, Holstein, etc. the milking machine performs two basis
functions.
