 Chapter 9 (Heat Exchangers Selection, Rating, and Thermal Design by Sadik Kakaç Hongtan Liu)
Complete chapter including Examples and Exercise Problems
 Pinch Analysis (See the folder in Next Cloud) Read the lecture slides and focus on assignment
problem
o 1) Read first three chapters of book in the "New folder"
o 2) CHEMICAL ENGINEERING DESIGN Principles, Practice and Economics of Plant and
Process Design (From page 124 to 137)
o 3) RobinM.Smith-Chemicalprocessdesignandintegration-Wiley2005 (Chapter 16, pages
357 to 364)
 Chapter 3,4 (Process Heat Transfer by R.W.Serth) Complete chapter and examples included
 Evaporator design for the industrial applications (Theory, design problems of single effect and
multi effect evaporators from the given lecture)
 All the Lectures provided in PDF files
 All the material taught in the class using whiteboard.

Grading Criteria

1. Final comprehensive exam (50%) due in the last week of August


2. Complex engineering problem (25%) due on 10-August-2020
3. Design of STHE assignment submitted (10%)
4. Pinch analysis assignment submitted (5%)
5. Design of evaporators assignment (5%) due on 15-August-2020
6. Assignment problem using Aspen Plus (5%) due on 14-Ausust-2020
