Focus of the program:


The major application of Geoinformatics in environmental engineering is in confronting issues like flood
management, landslide, soil erosions, drought, earthquake, current problems of climate change, habitat loss,
population growth, pollution, waste management etc. and provides information about land changes temporally.
Spatial information leads to better outcomes in almost every industry and GIS provides invaluable location
information that makes decision-making superior and extremely productive. The benefits that GIS can yield are

About the Institute:


RV College of Engineering (RVCE) established in 1963 is one of the earliest self-financing engineering colleges in
the country. The institution is run by Rashtreeya Sikshana Samithi Trust (RSST) a not for profit trust. The trust
runs over 25 institutions and RVCE is the flagship institute under the trust. RVCE is today recognized as one of
nstitution offering 12 UG programs and 16 PG programs.

About the Department:


The Department was established in the year 1963 with the UG program (B.E.in Civil Engineering) and is one of the
oldest branches of RVCE. The department has been imparting quality education to meet the technological
advancement and industrial requirements. The present intake for the undergraduate program is 120 and is affiliated
to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) Belagavi with an Autonomous status. The department started two
PG programs in Structural Engineering and Highway Technology in the year 2006 and 2009 respectively with a
total intake of 36 students. The department is also involved in research and development and is a recognized
research centre under VTU.
