VISUAL GRAPHICS DESIGN NC III (487 HOURS) Course Description: This is a full-packed design

development course designed to enhance the knowledge, skills and attitude of a trainee in developing
design studies. This includes PHOTOSHOP, COREL DRAW which involves creating vector and raster
graphics using a graphics application. Moreover, DEVELOPING PRINT MEDIA, DEVELOPING ELECTRONIC
MEDIA, DEVELOPING PRODUCT PACKAGING and DESIGNING BOOTH and PRODUCT/WINDOW DISPLAY
are also key lessons in this course.

Module 1**: ADOBE PHOTOSHOP An intensive program that covers balancing image quality and file
size; manipulating objects and images; using and modifying variable templates for printing; creating
raster graphics for final media and preparing graphic materials for printing. Introduction to Computer
Images & Adobe Photoshop Exploring Photoshop Basics Image Manipulations Working with Selections
Layer Essentials Color Adjustments Working with Paint Tools Image Retouching Tools Vector Tools &
Type Essentials Using Masking & Filters Web Design & Animation Automation in Photoshop

Module 2**: COREL DRAW A course designed to equip a trainee in preparing a work environment,
setting color match between a monitor and a printer and employing various graphics application
techniques in producing artworks or objects. Getting Started with COREL DRAW X4 Exploring Corel
Fundamentals Working with Pages Create and modify Objects Working with Text Working with Color
and Outlined and Fills Working with Layers Shaping Objects Using Interactive Tools More Object Effects
Importing, Exporting and Publishing

Module 3**: DEVELOP ELECTRONIC & PRINT MEDIA This module covers the skills, attitude and
knowledge on reviewing and interpreting the client brief, preparing the work environment, arranging
elements on page, finalizing and checking quality of work, preparing for final media, producing printer-
ready mock-up, setting command preferences , , conduct research, select techniques, tools, delivery
platform, and software/gather materials, apply visual design and communication techniques and
evaluate design. Principles of Visual Design & Communication Characteristics of Digital & Traditional
Graphics Color Theory & Familiarization in Media Elements (Gathering of materials) Interpretation of
Creative Information, Scripts & Images Development of Artistic Skills & Concept Development Graphic
Design & Effective Visual Communication Skills Developing Company logos / Identities Designing of
Company Profile & News Letter Creation of Brochure ( Tri Folded & Back to back brochure ) Develop
Company Billboard & Ads (Tarpaulin & Standee Creation) Develop Product Packaging ( Boxes & Stickers)
Develop Promotional Items ( Shirts, Mugs, Pen etc.) Develop Booth & window display (Booth & Billboard
creation) Finalize Projects & Portfolios

MODULE 4: ON-THE-JOB TRAINING (250 HOURS) The 250-hour On-the-Job Training program is
designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of the trainee through actual experience in the workplace.
It also enables the trainee to acquire specific competencies that are directly related to the course. The
trainee may fulfill this through his/her chosen local company or may choose among PSTC tie-up
companies. This also enables an opportunity to get a job referral for the trainee.
