BMS-Concept IO Schedule For MEP

The document discusses the electrical services for a mixed use development hotel block in Kampala, Uganda. It outlines that a building management system will be included to monitor, control and collect data on mechanical, electrical and plumbing services. Specifically, it will monitor equipment like fuel tanks, water tanks, dewatering pits, hot water temperatures, sprinkler systems, fire pumps, booster pumps, and more. It will also monitor HVAC equipment like fire pump ventilation, smoke extract fans, car park ventilation, and staircase pressurization systems. The building management system is aimed at monitoring plant status, detecting and diagnosing faults, and allowing for remote monitoring and energy conservation of the building systems.

HOTEL BLOCK, KAMPALA, UGANDA REPORT –ELECTRICAL SERVICES

pressure, status of plant, flow rate, velocity

• Main/Essential/UPS power status/condition (healthy/faulty, voltage presence,
trip etc.). Integrated alarm for air-condition, fuel, access control, fire alarm
(cause and effect) etc.
• Plant monitoring like R.O, lifting station, dewatering pump, fire pump, water
heater etc.
• Life safety equipment like staircase pressurization, car park ventilation,
corridor smoke extract. Fire alarm etc.

2.22.2 PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

System primary functions are listed below,

• Automatic ON/OFF Switching of Plants/Equipment.
• This can be based on time, type of day and/or environmental conditions.
• Monitoring of Plant Status & Environmental Conditions.
• Building personnel can be alerted to alarm conditions in time to take remedial
action. A good BMS will allow a pro-active rather than a reactive approach to
the management of service faults.
• Energy Conservation Tool.
• Along with good building design and efficient HVAC plant, the BMS plays a
vital role in the prevention of energy waste and reduces the environmental
impact of the building.
• Remote Monitoring Capabilities.
• The BMS provides centralized monitoring and control. From a single location,
one can obtain information such as temperatures, pressures and equipment
status, indicating how well the systems are running. Moreover, the central
location is not limited geographically.
• Fault Detection & Performance Monitoring.
• The BMS provides the opportunity to see the whole picture of the complexes
systems which makes the fault diagnosing process much easier, as well as
performance monitoring.

Building management system will be included to monitor, control and collect data
of MEP services as listed below:
