The Patapat Viaduct is a viaduct at the municipality

of Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte, a coastal resort town on

the northernmost tip of Luzon Island in
the Philippines.
The bridge is elevated 31 meters over sea level. It is a
concrete coastal bridge 1.3 km long and connects the
Maharlika Highway from Ilocos Region to Cagayan
Valley.

The Candaba Viaduct  is a 5-kilometer

viaduct carrying the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX)
across swampland in Candaba, Pampanga.
Consisting of four lanes (two northbound and two
southbound), it is the longest bridge in the Philippines.
[3]
The viaduct was designed by Aas-Jakobsen[1] and
built by Construction Development Corporation of the
Philippines (CDCP, later renamed to Philippine
National Construction Corporation) as part of
construction of the whole NLEX.

The Millau Viaduct (French: le Viaduc de

Millau, IPA: [vjadyk də mijo]) is a cable-stayed
bridge that spans the gorge valley of
the Tarn near Millau in Southern France. In an Anglo-
French partnership,[2][3][4] it was designed by the French
structural engineer Michel
Virlogeux and English architect Norman Foster. As of
November 2018, it is the tallest bridge in the world,
having a structural height of 336.4 metres

the Landwasser
Viaduct (German: Landwasserviadukt) is a single-
track six-
arched curved limestone railway viaduct. It spans
the Landwasser between Schmitten and Fil isur, in
the canton of Graubünden, Switzerland.
The Glenfinnan Viaduct is a railway viaduct on
the West Highland Line in Glenfinnan, Inverness-
shire, Scotland. Located at the top of Loch Shiel in the
West Highlands of Scotland, the viaduct overlooks
the Glenfinnan Monument and the waters of Loch
Shiel.

The Ouse Valley Viaduct carries the London-Brighton

Railway Line over the River Ouse in Sussex. It is
located to the north of Haywards Heath and to the
south of Balcombe. Known for its ornate design, the
structure has been described as "probably the most
elegant viaduct in Britain.

Viaduct - A viaduct is a bridge composed of several small spans for crossing a valley, dry or wetland,
or forming an overpass or flyover. The term is conventional for a rail flyover as opposed to a flying
junction or a rail bridge which crosses one feature.

Flyover - is a bridge, road, railway or similar structure that crosses over another road or railway.
An overpass and underpass together form a grade separation.[1] Stack interchanges are made up of
many overpasses.

5. Advantage of flyover
flyovers help to streamline the traffic control system by helping to reduce traffic congestion.
Reduced horizontal curvature reduces risk of off-road crashes. The impact of
the flyover construction to curb traffic congestion problem has been assessed in terms of traffic
decongestion, time saving and fuel saving.
Flyovers play a major role in streamlining the traffic control system.

 Through flyovers plenty of time is saved avoiding congestion.

 Pollution effect is reduced.

 Flyovers reduce the risk of accidents

 Flyovers also contribute a lot to the aesthetics of the city. The persons traveling on the flyover can
enjoy the panoramic view of the city

6.
TYPE OF FLYOVER BRIDGE
8.  At railway crossing where there is high traffic congestion in terms of the frequency of trains
passing by or the traffic on the road, in both the cases the flyover should be provided along the
road. Here the flyover becomes indispensable.

9. road crossing
Simple Flyovers - In this case, the main road is used for fast traffic, which is made to pass at a
high level by a bridge, providing ramps on both the approaches; and the slow traffic is made to
pass underneath. Thus the traffics pass at two different levels, and leave no chance for an
accident. 
10. cloverleaf junction - It requires a very large area of land. All conflicting streams of traffic are
avoided, and so traffic can move at its own speed. This is more advantageous than a
roundabout, as there is no necessity for weaving and slowing down of traffic.
Amazing Flyovers Around the World
The Judge Harry Pregerson
Interchange, California, USA
Don’t go by the entangled look of this
structure. Always busy, this overpass in Los
Angeles has a High-occupancy Vehicle (HOV)
or carpool lane, and a Harbor Transitway. It is
a meeting point primarily for two freeways,
Interstate-105 (Glenn M. Anderson Freeway)
and Interstate-110 (Harbor Freeway). This
flyover is named after the federal judge who
was ruling the case for the construction of Freeway I-105.

Spaghetti Junction, Birmingham,

UK

Though it opened in 1972, it got its name in

1965. The sub-editor of the local Birmingham
Evening Mail had titled the news article of the
then unfinished flyover construction as
‘Spaghetti Junction’. The real name of this
intersection is Gravelly Hill Interchange.

Binhai Flyover, Tianjin, China

The Binhai bridge in the northern Chinese

municipality of Tianjin is next on the list of the
world’s most amazing flyovers. With a length
of 5.3 km, it connects the city’s port, the Tianjin Development Zone, and the old urban
district. Besides, it looks spectacular at night.

High Five Interchange, Dallas, USA

With five interchange ramps, this ‘high five’ is a
composition of 37 bridges spread across all five
levels. It joins the Lyndon B. Johnson Freeway
(Interstate 635) and the Central Expressway (US
Highway 75). Interestingly, this overpass in
Texas, USA, has a biking and hiking trail under all
five planes, which is called the Cottonwood Trail.

The Circle Interchange, Chicago,

USA
Or, as it is officially known, the Jane Byrne
Interchange in the United States, puts together
the Dan Ryan, Kennedy and Eisenhower
expressways. An example of a ‘turbine
interchange’, this structure differs from the usual
four or five-level stack interchanges. The design
is more flattened. However, it is rather known for
its heavy traffic and congestion.

Kathipara Junction, Chennai, India

One of the largest cloverleaf interchanges in
Asia, the Kathipara junction is situated in the
southern Indian city of Chennai. It eases the
traffic inflow from four different roads, including
the Grand Southern Trunk Road or National
Highway 45. Maduravoyal, also in Chennai, is
another crucial cloverleaf junction built in 2010,
where the National Highway 4 and Chennai
Bypass intersect.
Tom Moreland Interchange,
Georgia, USA
Tom Moreland, after whom the stack
interchange is named, is an ex-commissioner of
the Georgia Department of Transportation. He
served during the 1980s. This flyover in the
United States connects the Interstate 85,
Interstate 285, and many other access roads
along its five stacks. It was built to especially eliminate the frequent congestion caused
at the intersection.
