Divisibility of 4,8,12,11

This document is a mathematics worksheet about divisibility rules. It contains notes on divisibility rules for numbers 4, 8, 12, and 11. It provides examples for each rule. The worksheet then has exercises for students to identify which numbers are factors of 4, 8, 11, and 12 using the divisibility rules. It also has exercises to write whether numbers are divisible by 4, 8, 11, or 12.

I. Concept Note

 Divisibility by 4: A number is divisible by 4 if the last two digits of a number are divisible
by 4. Also, numbers ending in two zeros are divisible by 4.

Example: 212 has last two digits 12. Since 12 is divisible by 4, 212 is divisible by 4.
700 ends with two zeros, so it is divisible by 4.
 Divisibility by 8: A number is divisible by 8. If its last 3 digits are divisible by 8. Also, a
number ending in three zeros are also divisible by 8

Example: 9216 has last three digits 216. Since 216 is divisible by 8, that means 9216 is
divisible by 8.
 Divisibility by 12: A number is divisible by 12 if it is divisible by both 3 and 4.

Example: 1092 has sum of digits 12, which is divisible by 3, 1092 has last two digits 92,
which is divisible by 4. Since 1092 is divisible by both 3 and 4, it is
divisible by 12.
 Divisibility by 11: A number is divisible by 11 if the difference of the sum of alternative
digits of a number is divisible by 11 and if the sum of the digits in
the odd places and the sum of the digits in the even places are equal.

Example: 1.) 1364 (+1 -3 +6 -4=0), since 1+6=7 and -3-4=7 are equal, that means 1364 is
divisible by 11.
2.) 3729 (+3 -7 + 2 -9= -11), in here 3+2= 5 and -7-9= -16, the difference
between -16+5=-11, hence 3729 is divisible by 11.
II. Exercises

A. Encircle 4, 8, 11 and 12 if these are factors by these numbers.

1. 642 - 4 8 11 12

2. 88 - 4 8 11 12

3. 160 - 4 8 11 12

4. 1 572 - 4 8 11 12

5. 2 400 - 4 8 11 12

B. Write on the blank before each number whether it is divisible by 4, 8, 11 or 12.

_____ 1. 500
_____ 2. 3000
_____ 3. 121
_____ 4. 492
_____ 5. 648
