‘Abdullah narrated from Abi ‘Abd al-Rahman b. Mahdi from Hamad b. Salamah from ‘Ammar,
he said: I heard Om Salamah (ra) say: “I once heard the Jinn cry for al-Hussain (as)”. And she
said: “I heard the Jinn mourn for al-Hussain (as)”. [Fadha’il al-Sahaba, Ahmed b. Hanbal, page
776, Hadeeth 1373]
‘Abdah b. ‘Abd al-Rahman from ‘Amro b. Muhammad from Yunes b. Abi Ishaq from al-‘Izar b.
Hurayth from al-Nu’man b. Basheer, he said: One day Abu Bakr excused himself from the
Prophet (saw) to leave him until he heard ‘Aisha saying in a loud voice; “By Allah, I have
learned that ‘Ali (as) is more beloved to you than my father!”. Abu Bakr then came to hit her
and said, “O daughter of so-and-so! I see that you raise your voice towards the Messenger of
Allah?!”. Then the Prophet (saw) grabbed him and Abu Bakr left while furious. Then the
Messenger of Allah (saw) said: “O ‘Aisha! Have you seen how I saved you from the man?”.
Then Abu Bakr excused himself and the Messenger of Allah (saw) made peace between Abu
Bakr and ‘Aisha. [Khasa’is Amir al-Mu’mineen, al-Nasa’i, page 126, Hadeeth 110]

It has been narrated on the authority of Jabir b. Samura who said: I joined the company of the
Prophet (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) with my father and I heard him say: This Caliphate will not end
until there have been twelve Caliphs among them. The narrator said: Then he (the Prophet) said
something that I could not follow. I said to my father: What did he say? He said: He has said: All of
them will be from the Quraish. [Sahih Muslim, Hadith 4478]
It has been narrated on the authority of 'Abdullah that the Messenger of Allaah (sallAllaahu alayhi wa
sallam) said: The Caliphate will remain among the Quraish even if only two persons are left (on the
earth). [Sahih Muslim, Hadith, 4477]
It has been reported on the authority of Jabir b. Samura who said: I heard the Messenger of Allaah
(sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) say: The affairs of the people will continue to be conducted as long as
they are governed by twelve men. Then the Prophet (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) said words which
were obscure to me. I asked my father: What did the Messenger of Allaah (sallAllaahu alayhi wa
sallam) say? He said: All of the (twelve men) will be from the Quraish. [Sahih Muslim, Hadith 4479]
It has been narrated on the authority of Jabir b. Samura who said: I heard the Messenger of Allaah
(sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) say: Islam will continue to be triumphant until there have been twelve
Caliphs. Then the Prophet (sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam) said something which I could not understand.
I asked my father: What did he say? He said: He has said that all of them (twelve Caliphs) will be from
the Quraish.[ Sahih Muslim, Hadith, 4481]
It has been narrated on the authority of Jabir b. Samura that the Prophet (sallAllaahu alayhi wa
sallam) said: This order will continue to be dominant until there have been twelve Caliphs. The
narrator says: Then he said something which I could not understand, and I said to my father: What did
he say? My father told me that he said that all of them (Caliphs) would be from the Quraish.[ Sahih
Muslim, Hadith 4482]
It has been reported on the authority of Jabir b. Samura who said: I went with my father to the
Messenger of Allaah (may peeace be upon him) and I heard him say: This religion would continue to
remain powerful and dominant until there have been twelve Caliphs. Then he added something which
I couldn't catch on account of the noise of the people. I asked my father: What did he say? My father
said: He has said that all of them will be from the Quraish.[ Sahih Muslim, Hadith 4483]

Narrated ‘UbaydAllah b. Ghanam from Abu Bakr b. Abi Shaybah. And from al-Hussain b. Ishaq
al-Tastari from ‘Uthman b. Abi Shaybah from Shareek from Hansh b. al-Harith from Rayah b.
al-Harith, he said: One day we were sitting with ‘Ali in the court yard of the Masjid when a
man that had signs of traveling on him came and said, “Peace be upon you, my master
(Mawlie).” A group of people said, “Who is this?”. Some one said, “Abu Ayyoub al-Ansari”.
Abu Ayyoub al-Ansari (ra) then said: I once heard the Messenger of Allah (saw) say,
“whomever I am his Mawla (master), then ‘Ali is his master. O Allah, support those who
support him and oppose those who oppose him.” [al-Mu’jam al-Kabeer, al-Tabarani, volume
4, Hadeeth 4052, pages 173-174]
Grading: The editor comments that this Hadeeth is in Musnad Ahmed and the chain of
Ahmed has trustworthy narrators.

And narrated al-Hussain b. Ishaq from Yahya al-Hamani from Shareek from al-Hassan b. al-
Hakam from Rayah b. Harith al-Nakha’i, he said: One day we were sitting with ‘Ali when a
group of riders from the Ansar that wore turbans came to us. They then said: Peace be upon
you, our master (Mawlana). ‘Ali (as) answered them: I am your master (mawlakom) and you
are people among the Arabs. They said: Indeed. We heard the Prophet (saw) say, “Whoever I
am his master (Mawla), then ‘Ali is his master. O Allah, support those who support him and
oppose those who oppose him”. And this man right here is Abu Ayyoub among us [bearing
witness].” Then Abu Ayyoub uncovered his face and said: I heard the Messenger of Allah
(saw) say, “Whoever I am his master, then ‘Ali is his master. O Allah, support those who
support him and oppose those who oppose him”.

Narrated to us Wakee’ from Shareek from Abi Ishaq from Abu Hurayra, he said: One day, a
sermon was given to us by al-Hassan b. ‘Ali and he said, “Verily a man has left you yesterday
who none from the past surpassed him in knowledge and neither will those who come after
him surpass him. The Messenger of Allah (saw) used to send him during a battle with his
banner while Jibrael was on his right side and Mikeal on his left side, and he did not return
until he became victorious. [Musanad Ahmed b. Hanbal, Volume 19, page 246]
Narrated Muhammad b. ‘Awf from Abu Saleh from Mu’awiyia b. Saleh from Abi Mas’ood, he
said: And upon you is my Sunnah (teachings) and the Sunnah of the rightly guided Caliphs,

Narrated Ibn ‘Uyanah from al-Zuhri, he said: I have not seen a Qurayshite better than ‘Ali b.

ما رأيت فيهم مثل علي بن الحسين: قال، عن أبيه، وورى عبد الرحمن بن زيد بن أسلم
Narrated ‘Abd al-Rahman b. Zayd b. Aslam from his father, he said: I have not seen anyone
from them like ‘Ali b. al-Hussain. [Seyar A’lam al-Nubala, al-Dhahabi, section ‘Ali b. al-Hussain

وكان أفضل أهل زمانه، قال أبو بكر بن البرقي نسل الحسين كله من قبل ابنه علي اﻷصغر
Narrated Abu Bakr b. al-Barqi: The descendants of al-Hussain are all through his son ‘Ali al-
Asghar and he was the best of the people of his time. [Seyar A’lam al-Nubala, al-Dhahabi,
section ‘Ali b. al-Hussain Zayn al-‘Abdeen]
ما رأيت: قال. ﻻ: هل رأيت علي بن الحسين ؟ قال: قال. ما رأيت أورع من فﻼن: إن رجﻼ قال ﻻبن المسيب: وقيل
أورع منه.
And it is reported that a man said to Ibn al-Musayab: I have not seen anyone better than so-
and-so. Ibn al-Musayab said: Have you seen ‘Ali b. al-Hussain? The man said: No. Ibn al-
Musayab said to the man: Then you have not seen anyone better than him. [Seyar A’lam al-

فلما مات علي، ﻻ يدرون من أين كان معاشهم، كان ناس من أهل المدينة يعيشون: عن محمد بن إسحاق، يونس بن بكير
بن الحسين فقدوا ذلك الذي كانوا يؤتون بالليل.
Yunes b. Bakir from Muhammad b. Ishaq: At one time, there were people from al-Madinah
who used to struggle to live and not know how they can sustain themselves. Then when ‘Ali
b. al-Hussain died, they lost this source of sustenance that used to come to them during the
night. [Seyar A’lam al-Nubala, al-Dhahabi, section ‘Ali b. al-Hussain Zayn al-‘Abdeen]
عن، عن أبيه، عن علي بن الحسين، الزهري: أصح اﻷسانيد كلها: قال، [ وروي عن أبي بكر بن أبي شيبة391 :] ص

Narrated from Abi Bakr b. Abi Shaybah, he said: The most authentic chain of narrators from
all the chains is: Al-Zuhri from ‘Ali b. al-Hussain from his father from ‘Ali b. Abi Taleb. [Seyar

وكان أهﻼ للﺧﻼفة، والرزانة، والثقة، والشرف، وكان أحد من جمﻊ بين العلم والعمل والسؤدد
Al-Dhahabi said on Imam al-Baqir (as): And he was an individual who acquired everything
from knowledge, righteousness, trustworthiness and was qualified for the Caliphate. [Seyar
A’lam al-Nubala, al-Dhahabi, section Muhammad b. ‘Ali al-Baqir]
[ 261 :صلى ﷲ عليه ] ص- من صلى على محمد: عن جعفر بن محمد قال، عن معاوية بن عمار، سويد بن سعيد
وعلى أهل بيته ماﺋة مرة قضى ﷲ له ماﺋة حاجة- وسلم.
Suweed b. Sa’eed from Mu’awiyia b. ‘Ammar from Ja’far b. Muhammad, he said: Whoever
asks Allah (swt) to send His blessings upon Muhammad (saw) and his Ahlulbayt (as) 100
times, then Allah will grant him what he asked for. [Seyar A’lam al-Nubala, al-Dhahabi,
section Ja’far b. Muhammad al-Sadiq]
كان أولى باﻷمر من أبي جعفر المنصور، من أﺋمة العلم، كبير الشأن: وكذا ولده جعفر الصادق.
Dhahabi said: As for his son, Ja’far al-Sadiq, he holds a noble position, a scholar from the
scholars of the Muslims. He had more rights over the Caliphate than Abu Ja’far al-Mansoor.

أيها أصح، والعﻼء عن أبيه، وسهيل عن أبيه، عن أبيه، وسﺋل عن جعفر بن محمد، سمعت أبا زرعة: قال ابن أبي حاتم
جعفر ﻻ يسأل عن مثله: وسمعت أبا حاتم يقول. ﻻ يقرن جعفر إلى هؤﻻء: ؟ قال
Abu Hatim said: I heard Abu Zar’a asking about which chain of narrators is the most authentic
between “Ja’far b. Muhammad from his father”, or “Suhuel from al-Baqir”, or “the scholars
from al-Baqir”. Abu Hatim said: Ja’far should not be compared to any of those. And he also
said: No one should question if there is anyone like Ja’far. [Seyar A’lam al-Nubala, al-Dhahabi,
section Ja’far b. Muhammad al-Sadiq]
أﺧبرني، حدثني أحمد بن وهب، حدثنا الحسين بن القاسم، حدثنا عمر بن شاهين، أنبأنا أبو العﻼء الواسطي: وقال الﺧطيب
السﻼم: فقال، ومعه موسى بن جعفر-صلى ﷲ عليه وسلم- حﺞ الرشيد فأتى قبر النبي: عبد الرحمن بن صالح اﻷزدي قال
: وقال، فتغير وجه هارون، السﻼم عليك يا أبة: فدنا موسى وقال. افتﺧارا على من حوله، يا ابن عم، عليك يا رسول ﷲ
هذا الفﺧر يا أبا الحسن حقا.
Al-Khatib al-Baghdady said: Narrated to us Abu al-‘Ala’ al-Wasity from ‘Umar b. Shaheen from
al-Hussain b. al-Qasim from Ahmed b. Wahab from ‘Abd al-Rahman b. Saleh al-Azdi, he said:
Harun al-Rasheed at one time traveled to perform Hajj while Musa b. Ja’far was
accompanying him and when he approached the grave of Allah’s Messenger (saw), he said,
“Peace be upon you O Messenger of Allah, O cousin”, and he said it in a manner to show off
in front of those around him. Then Musa (as) came and said, “Peace be upon you, O father”.
Then Harun’s face changed and he said, “Verily this is the true pride, O Aba al-Hassan”. [Seyar

Al-Shafi’I (d. 204 AH) said: As for the grave of Musa al-Khadhim, the Du’a is answered there.

أَﺧبرنا أَحْ َمد بْن جعفر بْن حمدان: قَا َل، سن بْن الحسين بْن ُم َح ﱠمد بْن رامين اﻹستراباذي َ اضي أَبُو ُم َح ﱠمد ْال َح
ِ َأ َ ْﺧبَ َرنَا ْالق
فتوسلت به، سى بْن جعفر
َ ما همني أمر فقصدت قبر ُمو: يقول، ي الﺧﻼل ّ ع ِل َ سمعت ْال َح َسن بْن ِإب َْراه: قَا َل، القطيعي
َ ِيم أبا
إﻻ سهل ﷲ تعالى لي ما أحب.
Narrated Abu Muhammad Hassan al-Istirbadhi from Ahmed b. Ja’far b. Hamdan from Al-
Hassan b. Ibraheem, he said: Whenever I am concerned about an issue, I go to the grave of
Musa al-Kadhim and make Tawassul via him. After that, Allah allows the issue to be easy for

... الهاشمي العلوي المدني، بن علي بن الحسين، بن محمد الباقر، بن جعفر الصادق، علي الرضا بن موسى الكاظم،الحسن
ً أهﻼ، وقد كان علي الرضا كبير الشأن... أفتى وهو شاب في أيام مالك:وكان من العلم والدين والسؤدد بمكان يقال
للﺧﻼفة...»(
Dhahabi said: ‘Ali al-Redha: The Imam, the master – Abu al-Hassan al-‘Alawi, ‘Ali al-Redha b.
Musa al-Kadhim b. Ja’far al-Sadiq b. Muhammad al-Baqir b. ‘Ali b. al-Hussain, the Hashimite,
the Allawite. He held a position in the knowledge of the religion where it was said that he
issued verdicts in his early youth. And he held a noble rank and was qualified for the
Caliphate. [Seyar A’lam al-Nubala, al-Dhahabi]

عن أبيه جعفر الصادق عن أبيه محمد الباقر عن أبيه علي زين العابدين عن أبيه الحسين بن علي عن أبيه علي بن أبي طالب
»لو قرأت هذا اﻹسناد على مجنون لبرئ من جنته:ً(»عن الرسول اﻷكرم صلوات ﷲ عليهم أجمعين قاﺋﻼ
Ahmed b. Hanbal commented on the chain that started from Imam ‘Ali b. Musa al-Redha
from his father Musa al-Khadim from his father Ja’far al-Sadiq from his father Muhammad al-
Baqir from his father ‘Ali Zayn al-‘Abideen from his father al-Hussain b. ‘Ali from his father ‘Ali
b. Abi Taleb from the Prophet, he said: If you read this chain to a mentally ill person, the
mental illness will leave him. [al-Saw’iq al-Muharaqa, Ibn Hajar al-Haythami, section 2, page
595]
فجهر ببسم ﷲ الرحمن الرحيم في كل سورة، صليت ﺧلف علي الرضى بنيسابور: قال أحمد بن ﺧالد الذهلي اﻷمير.
Narrated Ahmed b. Khaled al-Dhuhli al-Amir, he said: I once prayed behind ‘Ali b. Musa al-
Redha in Nisapur and he recited the “Bismillah” loudly in every Surah. [Seyar A’lam al-
Nubala, al-Dhahabi, section ‘Ali b. Musa al-Redha]

يبقون على مر الزمان فانظر كم قتل من أهل البيت ثم العالم ممتلﺊ منهم ولم يبﻖ من بني أمية في الدنيا أحد يعبأ به ثم انظر

Al-Fakhr al-Razi said in his Tafsir of Surat al-Kawthar: The third saying on the meaning of “al-
Kawther” is the descendants of the Prophet. And the meaning of it is that Allah will give him
offspring that will remain until the last hour. Look at how many from the Ahlulbayt have been
killed, yet the world is filled with them and at the same, look at how no none from Banu
Ummayah remains in this Dunya. Also, look at how among his Ahlulbayt there were as major
scholars, such as al-Baqir, al-Sadiq, al-Kadhim and al-Redha. [Tafsir al-Razi]
اﻹماميةِ وفي هذه السنة في جمادى اﻵﺧرة توفي علي الهادي وعلي التقي وهو أحد اﻷﺋمة اﻹثني عشر عند
وهو علي الزآي بن محمد الجواد المقدم ذآره في سنة عشرين وماﺋتين وآان علي المذآور قد سعى به ِإلى
المتوآل أن عنده آتبا ً وسﻼحا ً فأرسل المتوآل جماعة من اﻷتراك وهجموا عليه ليﻼً على ﻏفلة فوجدوه في
بيت مغلﻖ وعليه مدرعة من شعر وهو مستقبل القبلة يترنم بآيات من القرآن في الوعد والوعيد ليس بينه
وبين اﻷرض بساط ِإﻻ الرمل والحصا
Abu al-Fada (d. 648 AH) in his Tarikh said: And in this year, 254 AH, ‘Ali al-Hadi passed away
and he is an Imam from the twelve Imams belonging to the Imammiyia. He is ‘Ali the son of
Muhammad al-Jawad, who was mentioned earlier to have passed away in the year 220 AH.
And as for ‘Ali, a notice was sent to al-Mutawakel informing him that he is hiding weapons
and books., so al-Mutawakel sent a group of men and they raided his house during the night
by surprise. When they arrived, they found him in a closed house while he was facing the
Qibla, reciting the Ayat from the Quran and there was nothing between him and the earth
except for sand and rocks. [Tarikh Abu al-Fuda, page 190]

وأنجب بن أبي السعادات ) ح ( وأخبرنا، وعمر بن بركة، وسعيد بن ياسين، وصفية بنت عبد الجبار، ومحمد بن إبراهيم بن معالي، المفسر
ومحمد بن محمد بن، وعبد اللطيف بن محمد، وعلي بن أبي الفخار، وأنجب الحمامي، أخبرنا عبد اللطيف بن يوسف، سنقر بن عبد ﷲ الحلبي
أخبرنا: قاﻻ، وأخبرنا علي بن عبد الرحمن الطوسي: وزاد إبراهيم بن عثمان فقال، أخبرنا أبو الفتح محمد بن عبد الباقي: قالوا جميعا، السباك
حدثنا المطلب بن، حدثنا أبو سعيد اﻷشج، حدثنا إبراهيم بن عبد الصمد إمﻼء، أخبرنا أحمد بن محمد بن موسى الصلتي، مالك بن أحمد الفراء
فدخل رجل من، وأبو جعفر، ومحمد ابن الحنفية، وعلي بن الحسين، كنت عند جابر في بيته: عن عبد ﷲ بن محمد بن عقيل قال، 55 زياد
كنا بالجحفة بغدير خم وثم ناس كثير: فقال-صلى ﷲ عليه وسلم- أنشدك با إﻻ حدثتني ما رأيت وما سمعت من رسول ﷲ: فقال، أهل العراق
- فأخذ بيد علي، فأشار بيده ثﻼثا، من خباء أو فسطاط-صلى ﷲ عليه وسلم- فخرج علينا رسول ﷲ، [ وغفار335 :من جهينة ومزينة ] ص
ومتنه متواتر، هذا حديث حسن عال جدا. من كنت موﻻه فعلي موﻻه: فقال- رضي ﷲ عنه.
From ‘Abdillah b. Muhammad b. ‘Uqayl (ra), he said: I was once with Jabber (ra) at his house
and accompanying him were ‘Ali b. a-Hussain (as), Muhammad b. al-Hanafiya (ra) and Abu
Ja’far al-Baqir (as). Then a man from the people of Iraq entered and said, “I order you by Allah
to inform me of what you heard and saw from the Messenger of Allah (saw)”. Jabber said:
We were at the Juhfah in Ghadeer and there were a lot of people. When the Messenger of
Allah (saw) came out, he waved with his hand thrice and then took the hands of ‘Ali (as) and
said, “Whomever I am his Mawla (master), then ‘Ali is his Mawla”.
Grading: Dhahabi said, “This Hadeeth is Hasan (Good) at the highest level

Abu Muhammad b. Muhammad al-Shaybani from ‘Ali b. Sa’id b. Bashir al-Razi in Egypt from
al-Hassan b. Hammad al-Hadhrami from Yahya b. Ya’la from Bassam al-Sayrafi from al-Hassan
b. ‘Amro al-Faqeme from Mu’awiyia b. Tha’labah from Abi Dhar (ra), he said: The Messenger
of Allah (swt) said, “He who obeys me has obeyed Allah ‘Azawajjal and he who disobeys me
has disobeyed Allah. And he who obeys ‘Ali then he has obeyed me and he who disobeys ‘Ali
has disobeyed me.” [al-Mustadrak ‘Ala al-Sahihayn, al-Hakim al-Nisaburi, volume 3, page 131,
Hadeeth 4617]
Grading: al-Hakim said, “This Hadeeth’s chain is Saheeh (authentic) and they (Bukhari and
Muslim) did not include it. Al-Dhahabi adds in at-Talkhees by saying, “Saheeh (Authentic)”.
From Abi Thabet, the servant of Abi Dhar, he said: I was with ‘Ali (as) during the battle of
Jamal and when I saw ‘Aisha standing, a feeling entered inside me that has not entered other
people and then I felt as if Allah has taken it away from me after I prayed Dhur where it then
made me fight along with Amir al-Mu’mineen. When the battle was over, I travelled to al-
Madina and stopped by Om Salamah. I said to here, “By Allah, I am not here to acquire food
and beverages but I am the servant of Abu Dhar”. She said: Welcome. Then I told her my
story and she said: Where were you when the hearts flew away? I said to here: During that
day when the sun …. She said: Good on you. I once heard the Messenger of Allah (saw) say,
“ ’Ali is with the Quran and the Quran is with ‘Ali. They will never separate until they reach
me at the lake-fount”. [al-Mustadrak ‘Ala al-Sahihayn, al-Hakim al-Nisaburi, Volume 3, page
134, Hadeeth 4628]
Grading: al-Hakim said, “This Hadeeth’s chain is Saheeh (authentic) and they (Bukhari and
Muslim) did not include it. Al-Dhahabi adds in at-Talkhees by saying, “Saheeh (Authentic)”.
Narrated Abu al-Nadhr Muhammad b. Yusef from ‘Uthman b. Sa’id from al-Nafayli from
Zuhayr from Abu Ishaq. And through a different chain: ‘Uthman narrated from ‘Ali b. Hakim
and ‘Amro b. ‘Own al-Wasity from Shareek from Abi Ishaq, he said: I asked Quthm b. al-
‘Abbas on how ‘Ali inherited from the Messenger of Allah while others did not. He said:
Because he was the first among us to follow the Prophet and the strongest to stick to him. [al-

Narrated Abu Bakr b. Ishaq from Muhammad b. ‘Isa from Shihab b. ‘Abad from Muhammad
b. Bashar from al-Hassan b. Hay from Abi Rabi’ah from al-Hassan from Anas, he said: The
Messenger of Allah (saw) said, “Paradise desired three men: ‘Ali, ‘Ammar and Salman”. [al-

Grading: Al-Hakim said, “This Hadeeth’s chain is authentic and they (Bukhari and Muslim) did
not include it. Al-Dhahabi adds in at-Talkhees by saying, “Saheeh (Authentic)”.
Abu Hafs ‘Umar b. Ahmed al-Jamhi narrated in Mecca from ‘Ali b. ‘Abd al-‘Aziz from ‘Amro b.
‘Own from Hashem from Isma’il from Abi Idrees al-Awadi from ‘Ali (as), he said: Verily among
the things that the Messenger of Allah (saw) has promised to occur to me is this Ummah
(nation) drifting away from me after his departure. [al-Mustadrak ‘Ala al-Sahihayn, al-Hakim
al-Nisaburi, volume 3, page 150, Hadeeth 4676]
Grading: Al-Hakim said, “This Hadeeth’s chain is authentic and they (Bukhari and Muslim) did

Abu Bakr Muhammad b. al-Hussain b. Musleh from Muhammad b. Ayyoub from Yahya b. al-
Mugheerah al-Sa’di from Jurayr b. ‘Abd al-Hameed from al-Hassan b. ‘Abd Allah al-Nakha’I
from Muslim b. Subayh from Zayd b. Arqam (ra), he said: The Messenger of Allah (saw) said:
Verily I am leaving among you two weighty things – the Book of Allah and my Ahlulbayt and
they will never separate from each other until they reach me at the lake-fount. [al-Mustadrak
‘Ala al-Sahihayn, al-Hakim al-Nisaburi, volume 3, page 160-161, Hadeeth 4711]
Grading: Al-Hakim said, “This Hadeeth is Saheeh based on the criteria of the Shaykhayn
(Bukhari and Muslim) and they did not include it. Al-Dhahabi adds in at-Talkhees by saying,
“Based on the criteria of Bukhari and Muslim”.
Abu Ja’far Ahmed b. ‘Ubayd b. Ibrahim from Ibrahim b. al-Hussain b. Deyzel from Isma’il b.
Abi Uways from his father from Humayd b. Qays al-Makki from ‘Ata’ b. Abi Rabah and others
from the companions of Ibn ‘Abbas, from Ibn ‘Abbas (ra), he said: The Messenger of Allah
(saw) said: O people of ‘Abd al-Muttalib. Verily I asked Allah ‘Azawajjal on your behalf for
three things: To keep the your rightly guided firmly upon the right path, to guide those
among you that are misguided and to educate those among you that are ignorant. And I also
asked Allah to allow you to be munificent, courageous and merciful. But if a man among you
who prayed and fasted until he meets Allah while he holds hatred towards the Ahlulbayt of
Muhammad, he will surely enter the hellfire. [al-Mustadrak ‘Ala al-Sahihayn, al-Hakim al-
Nisaburi, volume 3, page 161, Hadeeth 4712]
Grading: Al-Hakim said, “This Hadeeth is Hasan-Saheeh (Good-Authentic) based on the
criteria of Muslim and he did not include it. Al-Dhahabi adds in at-Talkhees by saying, “Based
on the criteria of Muslim”.

Abu al-‘Abbas Muhammad b. Ya’qoob from al-‘Abbas b. Muhammad al-Duri from Shadhan al-
Aswad b. ‘Amir from Ja’far b. Ziyad al-Ahmar from ‘Abdillah b. ‘Ata’ from ‘Abdillah b.
Buraydah from his father Buraydah, he said: The most beloved person to the Messenger of
Allah from the women was Fatima and from the men, ‘Ali. [al-Mustadrak ‘Ala al-Sahihayn, al-

Abu Sa’id ‘Amri b. Muhammad b. Mansoor al-‘Adl from al-Siri b. Khuzaymah from ‘Uthman b.
Sa’id al-Mari from ‘Ali b. Saleh from ‘Asem from Zar from ‘Abdillah from the Prophet (saw),
he said: Al-Hassan and Al-Hussain are the masters of the youth of paradise and their father is

Grading: Al-Hakim said, “This Hadeeth’s chain is authentic with this addition and they
(Bukhari and Muslim) did not include it. Al-Dhahabi adds in at-Talkhees by saying, “Saheeh
(Authentic)”.
From Sa’id al-Maqbari, he said: One day we were in the company of Abu Hurayra when al-
Hassan b. ‘Ali b. Abi Taleb came to us and sent us his Salam and then we returned it to him.
Abu Hurayra was not aware of his arrival and so we told him, “O Abu Hurayra! This is al-
Hassan b. ‘Ali, verily he sent us his Salam so return it him”. Abu Hurayra said, “And peace be
upon you, my master”. Then he said: I once heard the Messenger of Allah (saw) say, “Verily
he is a master (Sayed)”. [al-Mustadrak ‘Ala al-Sahihayn, al-Hakim al-Nisaburi, volume 3, page
185, Hadeeth 4792]
