death". Chose a topic: a
theme, a symbol, a
character.

In this short story, we are


in front of a narrative that
explores the depth of the human character. While the outside faces a serious health
crisis, with several deaths and sick people, the prince opts to lock himself in a castle,
with the high society at the time, living the lower classes to their own devices. With a
taste for the eccentric, the prince offers parties and entertainment to the guests. Then we
have, at one of these parties, the high point of this narrative, with a guest who has
scorned the inevitability of the life: the death. “The Red Death” appears to show that, no
matter the size of the wealth, or the distance you want to have from the disease, one day
it will go in search of all people. Although the prince and the guests had all the
entertainment to forget what was going on outside, they were found by the illness and
the death. Several other points could be studied and pointed out in this allegory of 1845,
from now, the point was the character that gives the title to this Poe’s short story.
