I. TOPIC: Number Concentration


A. Subtopic: Subtraction from numbers 1-5
B. Strategy: Student-Centered Approach
Discovery Learning

II. APPERCEPTIVE BASIS: Identifying numbers from 1 to 5, Counting numbers


1-5, number concentration from numbers 1 to 5

III. OBJECTIVES: At the end of the discussion at least 80% of the students with
80% proficiency, should be able to:

1. Recall and identify numbers from 1 to 5.


2. Discover and Comprehend the concept of subtraction using differentiated
instructional materials.
3. Solve given problems using designed activity based on learners’ learning
ability.

IV. PROCEDURES:
A. PRELIMINARY ACTIVITIES:
1. Daily Routines

B. Motivation
CLICK IT RIGHT
Using a PowerPoint Presentation, students will personally choose
their answers from the given choices on the slide.

Correct answers are praised with a Yes! slide. When students are
incorrect, the slide will say Try Again!

Students can self-check and get excited as they see that their
answers match the correct answers on the PowerPoint presentation

C. Drill
FINDING NUMBERS
Numbers 1-5 flashcards are placed on the floor
1. Accordingly
2. Randomly
The teacher will randomly say a number and the learners must find
the number as fast as they can. This will be a match between girls and
boys.

Activity Name 1: Basic Subtraction


Materials: Laptop, Projector
Procedure: Video presentation
The students will watch a video showing the concept of subtraction.
Goal: Discover and conceptualize the meaning of subtraction

Activity Name 2: Happy Family

Materials: Members of the Family Flashcard

Procedure: Tell a short story of a happy family using flashcards of family


member.

Goal: To educate learners that subtraction is applies in real life situations.

Activity Name 3: Bowling in the Deep


Materials: 5 empty bottles and a ball
Procedure: One student will roll the ball to the empty bottles and let his
classmates count the remaining empty bottle/s. Repeat the procedure till none
of the bottle remain.
Goal: understand better the concept of subtraction.

E. Generalization:

Subtraction
 Taking one number away from another.
 If we have 5 apples and then subtract 2 we are left with 3.
 The symbol of subtraction is −

F. Application:

Group Activity for circle 1:


Count and Color
-Read aloud each number. Color as many picture/s as you read.

Group Activity for circle 2:


Writing numbers 0-5

Trace and Cut
-trace and cut out the numbers. Match each number to the number of
flowers in each box by pasting it inside the square.
