Objectives

The document outlines the objectives, tools, materials, and procedures for a student practical laboratory on wiring diagrams and electrical circuit testing. The objectives are for students to learn to draw wiring diagrams, schematics, and perform various circuit tests including physical, no power, and power tests. The tools and materials needed are listed. The procedures describe drawing diagrams, estimating lengths, installing wiring clips and cables according to a schematic, connecting the circuit to power, and performing visual, insulation, and operational tests under various switch configurations.

Objectives : At the end of practical laboratory, students should be able:

1. To draw wiring diagram and using wiring tools.

2. To draw schematic diagram.
3. To do testing and inspections related to the wiring.
i. Physical testing
ii. Testing without power supply
iii. Testing with power supply

Tools :
1. Side cutter
2. Tack Hammer
3. Combination plier
4. Test pen
5. Screw driver
6. Multimeter

Materials:

1) Single core PVR, (black and green 3/0.737mm)

2) Screw, tack shoes, plumbum
3) Lampholder ( battern type) and menthol
4) 2 way switch with base
5) 1 Intermediate switch with base

Procedures:

A. Before wiring installation

1. Draw schematic wiring diagram for circuit above.
2. Make estimation for cable length, clip and shoe tack.
3. Sketch the wiring route on the wiring board.
4. Cut the cable based on the length, colour and size.
B. During wiring installation

1) Strip the end of each cable.

2) Strip the cable using suitable tool.
3) Install the wiring clip on wiring route within appropriate distance.
4) Install the cble follows the sequence.
5) Mark the end of cable (lives and neutral) to avoid confusion during cable
connection.
6) Install thelamp base for menthol and casing base for switch.
7) Make sure the cable polarity is correct. Any mistakes because polarity will
cause dangerous.
8) Connect the source of the wiring installation to AC supply in consumer box.
C. Testing and inspections the circuit.
1. Do physical test and visual test.
2. Used Megger Ohm Tester for insulation test.

Conclusions

At the end of experiment, we had learnt about domestic wiring system which is two
lamps and three switches. We had estimated for cable length according to circuit that we
sketched. We had difficulty on strip the cord cable. But we still can manage to strip the
cord cable. We installed the wiring clip on wiring route within appropriate distance. Then,
we installed the cable follows into correct sequence. We acquire knowledge of twist the
end of each conductor (cable). We fund that we had problem in twisting the conductor
(cable). Because, our hands are too soft and we felt so complicated to twist hardly. So, we
used slip joint plier to twist it. After that, we installed the cables into correct polarity of
lamp base for menthol and casing base for switch. Furthermore, we connected the source
of the wiring installation to AC supply in consumer box. We tested the circuit by doing
physical and visual test to avoid any mistakes occurred. We tested using a multimeter.
Finally, we successfully finished our experiment in first attempted.
