GARDOCLEAN A 5722
INTRODUCTION It is recommended that before operation of the process described in this Data Sheet,
that any person involved in handling, operating or otherwise all materials, products,
Testing Reagents, etc., described, read the document in its entirety and are certain that
they completely understand the methods of make-up, operation, testing, etc., and are
fully aware of the safety of operation and of any potential hazards that may exist.
They should also have read all relevant Health and Safety Data Sheets as listed under
'Safety Precautions'.
EQUIPMENT Tanks for GARDOCLEAN A 5722 working solution should be constructed of lead or
rubber lined mild steel. Heating coils should be of lead.
The strength of the cleaner may be reduced if only very light soil and/or rust requires
to be removed and in some cases a dilution as low as 10 litres of GARDOCLEAN A
5722 SOLUTION diluted to 100 litres with water may be satisfactory.
(2) Operation
The work to be cleaned is immersed until all soil, scale and/or rust is removed. The
time required is normally in the range of 5 to 30 minutes. The temperature may be
from ambient up to 80C and after the optimum temperature has been established
it should be maintained. It is advisable that the solution be circulated.
After cleaning, the work should be thoroughly water rinsed, preferably in two stages,
the first cold and the second hot.
If the work is to be phosphated, it may be passed whilst still wet, directly to the
appropriate processing tank. Otherwise it should be immediately forced dried.
TESTING & CONTROL The method is available upon request under separate data sheets for Method of Control.
If it becomes necessary to clean out the GARDOCLEAN A 5722 tank, the working solution
may be transferred to the rinse tanks which have first been emptied and cleaned out.
Sludge is then removed from the GARDOCLEAN A 5722 tank and the opportunity should
be taken to descale the heating coils if necessary.
After cleaning out the tank, the solution is returned to it, the level is made up with water
and after mixing, the solution is brought up to the operating temperature. The solution is
then tested and replenished in the normal way.
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS GARDOCLEAN A 5722 SOLUTION contains acids and should not be allowed to come
into contact with skin or clothing. Care should be taken when pouring GARDOCLEAN A
5722 SOLUTION from drums. In case of accidental contact wash freely with clean water.
For eyes, flush freely with clean water and obtain medical attention immediately.
