Change Is Not Always Equal To Progress

The document discusses the relationship between change and progress. It argues that while change is inevitable, not all changes necessarily lead to progress. Some changes, like the rise of Hitler's regime, did not constitute true progress. The document also notes that humans have historically adapted to changes, like during the Ice Age, but that technology may now be advancing faster than human creativity can keep pace with. Finally, it concludes that people can and should make wise choices in how they respond to changes, rather than passively accepting them, in order to work towards beneficial outcomes for all.

Change is not Always Equal to Progress

Change, seen as either friend or foe something so abstract yet dynamic, natural and ever

going; change is sometimes feared and unexpected but is necessary. Change is not unnatural; it is

not changing that is. Everything changes, everything is alive, even the dead or what we think is

inanimate. (Montelibano 2019) change is everywhere always happening and most often

unobserved like finally noticing on one un peculiar day turning around and truly looking at a

friend and thinking ‘oh how beautiful’ have they always been like this being under the

impression that the friend changed not giving a thought that maybe, their feelings for them have.

In the words of Lao Tsu. Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don't resist them;

that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way

they like. Even so when humans are presented with change they adapt, find solutions and make it

into that they are in a position they can take advantage of. The world is a quickly changing place.

Although these rapid changes happening in the world are not always in the right direction.

Sometimes certain changes may seem like good ideas at the moment they are presented, until

time passes and we realize that we have made a mistake. Change is not always equal to progress.
Modernity is marching without letup, speed, and volume as its minimum traits.

Technology is almost outpacing human imagination, definitely the collective imagination.

(Montelibano 2019) Change as they say is inevitable, something that no one can control or

prevent. It comes at such a fast pace that there are those that get left behind. While some countries

advancement in technology enables them to buy at grocery stores without having to use money or

credit cards there are still countries that struggle with having to find a reliable water source as they walk

for miles at end on blistered uncovered feet. Change may not always come at the same time for most

there will always be those that lag behind, but that is the beauty of humans their ability to cope and

adapt to change be it positive or negative. Take the ice age for example humans should have died out,

but they found a way to bear with the cold and scarcity of food and survived. The author of the article

may imply that humans are collectively losing the battle of creativity with the increase of advancing

technology because of being dependent on it for almost everything. nevertheless, creativity it is not a

hindrance nor does it render human’s imagination useless, technology is just a tool that people built to

spread and develop more creativity.

People have more choices now, even more so than previous generations. With almost

everyone having freedom, and the availability of resources skyrocketing it is not surprising that there are

those that see it as a way to manifest their greed. When freedom was democratized, greed and lust for

power attracted more people simply because they were new possibilities when once they were not.

(Montelibano 2019). Change although is unpreventable is not uncontrollable it can be turned into an

advantage. Yet it is wise to remember that there is always a limit to everything and that although it can

be done does not mean it should be. People have a choice on what to do when change is presented, pity

those that rely on the winds of destiny and are complacent taking change while lying down letting

opportunities fly by rather than take a stand and decide the next action to take by, planning, prioritizing

and organizing in order to persevere. When unexpected change comes move around it and find
solutions. Encountering changes is a contributing factor to an individual’s growth as a person. It is by

the actions and choices one makes that defines them.

Change does not mean progress. Throughout history there has always been change but would

Hitler’s Regime and rise to power as a change be called progress? Or the refusal of the Spaniards to

teach Filipinos their native tongue kind of change progress. Seeing change to be something you can

control is wishful thinking. Change cannot be denied especially since it can be observed all around. In

the next few years, maybe China will take over all of Asia. People can decide on what to do when

changes come. They must not be hindered by the difficulties that come with it but rather rise up and

make good choices that not only benefit them but also everyone else. All that is to be done is hope and

pray that once a new wave of changes come that will rattle and shake the foundations of the world as

we know it, is that we are ready.
