SolidWorks Configuration Guide

Configurations in SolidWorks allow a single part file to have variations, such as different lengths, sizes, features, or materials. Configurations can be created and specific dimensions, features, or materials can be defined for each configuration. Assemblies and drawings can reference different configurations of a part, so a single part file can represent multiple variants without duplicating the part model.

You can have both parts and assemblies with different configurations.

Φ3.
• Click on the Configuration Manager
icon.
• Right-click on the top line Part1
configuration, and select Add
Configuration.
• Type a name for the configuration –
in this case Short Shaft, and click
the green tick to finish the

end of the shaft.
