MB Eng Failure ECAM - Pps

1) The document provides procedures for handling an engine failure during takeoff, beginning with initial actions within the first few seconds and progressing through the entire ECAM drill. 2) Key initial actions include cancelling warnings, raising gear if possible, considering TOGA thrust on remaining engines, adjusting pitch to maintain target speed, and considering autopilot use. 3) The ECAM drill outlines specific actions to isolate the failed engine such as setting its mode selector to ignition and moving its thrust lever to idle, then further steps depending on the engine's condition including turning its master switch off if damaged or pushing its fire button if not on fire. 4) Task sharing responsibilities are defined, with the pilot flying focusing on

USE of TOGA at PILOT'S DISCRETION

• TOGA requires more rudder input.

Note:
•Setting TOGA, when out of SRS mode with slats extended, triggers go-around mode
•TOGA is not allowed in case of derated T.O on ground.

 FADEC will attempt to relight the engine.
 If the engine does not relight within 30 secs of
failure/rundown the engine master is placed to OFF.

If Damage is a question.

 The crew must decide if the engine is damaged.
 Signs of damage are (FCOM 3.02.70 P11):
Loud Noise.
Significant Increase in aircraft vibrations/buffeting.
Repeated or uncontrollable engine stalls.
Associated abnormal indications such as:
 N1 or N2 around 0

IF NO DAMAGE?

If No Damage is a question.

 Would you attempt to relight?
 If No Damage or Engine Fire
 The crew may consider and relight the engine
 FCOM 3.2.70 P11:
 On the ground
‘If conditions permit, do not restart the engine. A new
engine start will erase FADEC troubleshooting data.’
 In the air:
 If there is no damage, an engine relight can be considered.
To restart the engine, apply the ENG RELIGHT (in flight)
procedure.
 Relight is allowed if required (and no damage).
 Relight only after A/C is cleaned up.
 Relight Drill in QRH
EFATO CASE

For an EFATO once the engine is secure.

and the selection of a suitable airport

The crew must evaluate the situation

and take a decision, by considering the:

• En-route and possible diversion airfields’
meteorological conditions
• Diversion runway and airport conditions (runway length...).

IF PERF PERMITS

If: WING A/ICE off and ENG 1(2) FIRE pushbutton not

 IF PERF PERMITS will appear this relates to driftdown performance:

FCOM 3.2.70 – AFTER ENGINE SHUTDOWN REFERS:

 IF PERF PERMITS
- X BLEED……………………………………………………….OPEN
If no obstacle constraint, open the X-BLEED, and decrease the
single engine gross ceiling by 1200 feet (Refer to 3.06.20 p1)

Therefore following EFATO, NO FIRE and NO DAMAGE there

should be no practical reason why the X-BLEED cannot be opened.
This will allow operation of both packs or allow the use of WING
