Coronaviruses Are From The Family Coronaviridae and Are: Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Sars

Coronaviruses are single-stranded RNA viruses with crownlike projections on their surface, giving them their name. They are spread through droplet and fomite exposure and cause respiratory infections. While known to cause upper respiratory infections, they were not thought to significantly cause pneumonia until SARS in 2003. The incubation period for coronaviruses is typically 2-14 days with an average of 5.2 days. Common symptoms include respiratory symptoms, fever, cough, shortness of breath, and in severe cases pneumonia, acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure and death.

Coronaviruses are from the family Coronaviridae and are

single-stranded RNA viruses, the surface of which is covered by

crownlike projections, giving the virus its name.
This virus is spread via droplet and fomite exposure.
Long known to cause upper respiratory infections, coronaviruses
were not felt to significantly cause pneumonia until relatively
recently.
However, the severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS)
pandemic in 2003 brought the ability of this virus to cause life-
threatening pneumonia to worldwide attention .
What is the incubation period?
The incubation period is the time it takes for symptoms of an
infection to appear.
people will become symptomatic between 2 to 14
days after infection, the averageincubation period is 5.2 days

What are the symptoms of someone infected with a

coronavirus?
It depends on the virus, but common signs include respiratory
symptoms, fever, cough, shortness of breath, and breathing
difficulties. In more severe cases, infection can cause
pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure
and even death.

1. Shortness of breath
Shortness of breath is not usually an early symptom of Covid-
19, but it is the most serious. It can occur on its own, without a
cough. If your chest becomes tight or you begin to feel as if you
cannot breathe deeply enough to fill your lungs with air, that's a
sign to act quickly, experts say.

2. Fever
Fever is a key sign of Covid-19.Because some people can have a
core body temperature lower or higher than the typical 98.6
degrees Fahrenheit (37 degrees Celsius).
3. Dry Cough
Coughing is another common symptom, but it's not just any
cough. "It's not a tickle in your throat. You're not just clearing
your throat. It's not just irritated. The cough is bothersome, a dry
cough that you feel deep in your chest.
4.Fatigue
For some people, extreme fatigue can be an early sign.
5.Headache,sore throat, congestion

The WHO report also found nearly 14% of the almost 6,000
cases of Covid-19 in China had symptoms of headache and sore
throat, while almost 5% had nasal
congestion.
How does the coronavirus disease spread?
The new coronavirus is a respiratory virus which spreads
primarily through droplets generated when an infected
person coughs or sneezes, or through droplets of saliva or
discharge from the nose.
To protect yourself, clean your hands frequently with an
alcoholbased hand rub or wash them with soap and water.
