Vision Statement for eLearning
eLearning at Howard Community College will create educational opportunities
characterized by a focus on pedagogical quality and excellence, open access to all students, innovation, and superior training for all users.
Objectives – eLearning at HCC will:
Support a learning environment that reflects the college’s mission, vision,
and values Aspire to be a campus leader in creative aspects of instructional design and implementation Maintain a collaborative approach to the evaluation of quality pedagogy within online/hybrid environments to encourage continuous improvement of course offerings and teaching methods Enhance the assessment of student learning outcomes Provide academically rigorous courses that meet students’ educational needs By employing universal design theory and implementation, ensure access for all students (including those with disabilities) Continue to collaborate with student services to provide assistance and to meet the needs of eLearning students Support faculty with appropriate training sessions and opportunities to express creativity and innovation within their course offerings Provide an effective LMS that maximizes the teaching and learning process Encourage faculty to utilize the LMS to enhance traditional courses and to provide online components that reflect the current trends in educational technology Investigate the proven methods for increasing student retention and overall satisfaction with eLearning courses Strengthen cross-disciplinary and cross-functional relationships to publicize the mission and goals of eLearning Pursue a culture of leadership, academic excellence, student achievement, and continuous improvement David Buck -- Howard Community College, July 2010
