WHY YOU MUST SPEAK KAPAMPANGAN
As humans, one of our most astonishing capabilities is to acquire and adopt
languages. There are lots and different languages in the world like English, Tagalog,
Mandarin, Korean, Japanese, French, Russian and the like. Considering that I live in the
Philippines, I know that it has more than a hundred languages and eight are considered
major languages: Ilocano, Pangasinan, Kapampangan, Tagalog, Bicol, Cebuano,
Hiligaynon and Waray-Samarnon. Since I am raised in Pampanga, I learned how to
speak our very own language which is Kapampangan. I witnessed how we,
Kapampangans value our native language. We must speak Kapampangan to deepen
our knowledge and understanding on our own local speech. We must value this to
preserve our culture and traditions because it is our responsibility to conserve what is
ours. As a student, I sometimes forget how to speak Kapampangan because since I
study in a big university, I mingle with lots of people who also have different langauages
and we use Tagalog to communicate with each other but I must take time to become
fluent in speaking Kapampangan and also to teach other people like my friends to
speak even few words of this to show them one of our prides. To improve ourselves in
Kapampangan, there are lots of materials like the internet, books, magazine, etc. to
boost and develop our skills and to witness the beauty of our own language. We must
effort to at least read some of these to appreciate how wonderful Kapampangan
language is. Also, we must love this because this is ours and we are responsible to do
so. As a proud Pampango, I must promote our own culture especially our language to
protect and to retain it from dying. We should not rely on other people to do this
because we are all responsible to protect our own language. Always remember to be
proud and loud of what is yours that is why as a Kapampangan, I am proud to say that
“KAPAMPANGAN KU, PAGMARAGUL KU!”
IS THE KAPAMPANGAN LANGUAGE DYING?
As I read the article, I am saddened that there is a possibility that Kapampangan
language will die in the future. As a Kapampangan, I am concern about this issue
because I grew up speaking this language and witnessed how people around me speak
it too that is why it has a sentimental value for us, kapampangans, and it became part of
ourselves. Preservation of the native language requires a powerful culture. Culture is a
language and language is a culture. When a language dies, so does the culture that is
why we need to help each other in developing and improving Kapampangan language.
We can do a lot of things to conserve our own language like writing articles,
communicating, speaking and spreading using Kapampangan. We must do something
today even a little one that will help us to preserve what is ours. It is so delightful to think
and imagine that future generation will experience and witness our culture. It is
important that we develop and protect our own culture. We must have resolutions to
prevent the death of Kapampangan language for us not to regret that we did not do so
many things for our own language, to survive and live. We must also preserve all the
papers, documents, books, articles and the like so that in the future, people will still
have a living proof of how great Kapampangans are. Since in the article, it said that
Kapampangan is used by almost 3 million people around the Philippines, we need to
help each other to resolve the problem that our language experiences. We must do it
now, not later, for us to start the action to protect our own culture.
WHAT DEFINES THE KAPAMPANGAN
Kapampangans have rich culture and traditions. What defines us, the
kapampangans, is our native blood from our ancestors. Also, the Kapampangan
language is what makes us all, Kapampangans. It said in the article that we are unique
in terms of language. In this time, people are considered Kapampangan when they live
in Pampanga, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija and the like and when they speak our mother tongue
but it does not mean that if you live in these places or speak our language, you’re a
Kapampangan already because being one means that your ancestor’s ancestors were
100% Kapampangan in blood. Also our traditions and culture is what define us. We
have rich traditions like festivals, fiestas, celebrations and many more. Since
Kapampangans are known as religious people, it also showcases and defines who we
are. We do have deep faiths and beliefs which symbolizes our love for our Almighty
God. Also, for me, What truly defines the Kapampangan is the eagerness of a person to
value, know, understand, preserve, aappreciate our traditions, beliefs and culture of us,
Pampangos Another one that defines us is our love for food and in cooking. When you
will going to ask people if what province has lot of delicious foods, they will always
answer Pampanga because we, Kapampangans, are great in kitchen because of our
certain techniques. There aare lots of famous delicacies and food in Pampanga like
sisig, kalame, puto and the like. There are lotts of words to define what Kapampangan
is. Few words are noy enough to describe and define us, Kapampangans.

Since Philippines is known as one of the countries who have lots of
beautiful places or tourist spots, foreigners often visit our country to witness such
amazing destinations. Some examples of these are Boracay, Puerto Prinsesa,
Burnham Park, Luneta and the like. One of the provinces who have lots of beautiful
sceneries is Pampanga. Since in this article, a foreigner is fluent in speaking our own
native language which is Kapampangan, I am delighted by the fact that even our
neighbors in other countries, can speak and appreciate our culture and traditions. I also
felt guilty by the fact that I, a pure Kapampangan, do not always use our mother tongue
to communicate or talk to other people. This article reminded me to be proud of our own
language and to always use this to deepen my knowledge. Also, we should always put
in mind that whenever we travel or go to other places, we shall study their culture to
show respect. We need to summon in our minds that we are the ones who will adjust
when we go to other places in terms of their traditions, beliefs and most importantly, in
their languages. One example is when an American asks something in English, I will
answer his/her question in English also. Now that I read this article, our doings are
wrong because we should not adjust when they talk to us. They should study at least
some basic words. It’s normal and right for a foreigner to speak certain language where
he/she travels.
