prayer.

Good afternoon class!

You may now take your seats.

2. Checking of the attendance

Class Secretary tell the class who are absent today. ( Secretary reports )

3. Checking of Assignment hart

Class, please bring out your assignment.

Let us check.
Who will read and answer the question? Sir!

Student A. What is Middle Childhood Stage?

It is the stage when children undergo so many

different changes - physically, emotionally,
socially and cognitively. This is the stage
between 6-12 years old.
Very Good!

4. Review
The Socio-Emotional Development of
Last time we discussed about what? Preschooler.

Is there any question about our past lesson? None Sir.

5. Motivation

Class, I’m going to show you pictures then you are

going to tell me what is in the pictures?

( Show a series of pictures )

Flexing his muscle.

Very good!

Next.

Solving a puzzle.

Correct.

How about this one?

A child brushing her teeth.

And the last one.

Children riding in a car with their seatbelt put

on.

Correct. Very good!

B) Presentation of the Lesson

1. Activity

Now class, you will be divided into 3 groups.

Each group will perform the task that will be given

to you.

Group 1 will observe and describe the different

physical characteristics.

Group Number 2 and 3 will perform the following

activity:
1. Bridging Ball
2. Balloon Tossing
3. Paper ball Catching
4. Tower Can

After the activity, on a ¼ sheet of paper, you will

write the importance to us the activity that was
performed.

2. Analysis

Based on the observations you have made, what

can you conclude about the general physical Their physical characteristics like height, weight,
characteristics of children in their primary school bones and muscles are still developing. Physical
years? growth is slow but steady. This period of gradual
and steady growth will give them time to get
used to the changes in their bodies.
What are the necessary skills that will help them to
be physically ready for primary schooling? Motor development is the necessary skill that
will help them to be physically ready during
primary school. These includes coordination of
movements, balance and speed.
3. Abstraction

Class we will now discuss the different physical

development during primary school years. During
this stage, physical development involves?

Who can answer?

Student A.
Sir, physical development involves:

1) having good muscle control and coordination

2) developing eye-hand coordination
3) having good personal hygiene
4) being aware of good safety habits
Very good!

Let’s move to height and weight.

An average increase in height of a little over two

inches a year in both boys and girls will introduce
them to many different activities that they can now
do with greater accuracy.

Weight gain averages about 6.5 pounds a year.

Most children will have slimmer appearance
compared to their preschool years because of the
shifts in accumulation and location of their body
fats. A child's legs are longer and more
proportioned to the body than they were before.

What are the factors that could indicate how much

a child grows, or how much changes in the body
will take place?

Student B.
Sir.
 Genes
 Food
 Climate
 Exercise
 Medical conditions
 Diseases / illnesses

Correct.

Let’s go to bones and muscles.

Childhood years are the peak bone-producing

years. This is the best time to teach children of
good dietary and exercise habits to help them have
strong, healthy bones throughout their lives. Many
lifestyle factors, like nutrition and physical
activity, can substantially influence the increase of
bone mass during childhood. Because children's
bones have proportionately more water and
protein-like materials and fewer minerals than
adults, ensuring adequate calcium intake will
greatly help them in strengthening bones and
muscles.

Class, in this stage motor skills are also being

developed. These include coordination, balance,
speed, agility and power.

Coordination is a series of movements organized

and timed to occur in a particular way to bring
about a particular result (Strickland, 2000). The
more complex the movement is, the greater
coordination is required. Children develop eye-
hand and eye-foot coordination when they play
games and sports.

Balance is the child's ability to maintain the

equilibrium or stability of his4rer body in different
positions. It is a basic skill needed especially in
this stage, when children are very active.

What are the two type of balance?

Sir.
Student C.
Static balance - is the ability to maintain
equilibrium in a fixed position, like balancing on
one foot. Dynamic balance - is the ability to
maintain equilibrium while moving (Owens,
2006).

Very Good!

Class, who can differentiate speed from agility?

Sir.
Student D.
Speed is the ability to cover a great distance in
the shortest possible time while agility is one's
ability to quickly change or shift the direction of
the body.

Correct.

The last motor skill is the Power. It is the ability to

perform a maximum effort in the shortest possible
period.

All these motor skills are vital in performing

different activities, games and sports.
Development of these skills may spell the
difference between success and failure in future
endeavors of the child. Yes Sir!

Did you understand class?

4. Application The students will create and submit their
individual reflection.
Now class, I am going to show you a video
presentation and you are going to write your short
reflection about the video that you watched.

IV – EVALUATION

Class, please get a ½ sheet of paper crosswise. We will be having a quiz.

1. True or False. In Primary Pupil, height of girls and boys are not the same.
2. True or False. Bones and muscles are fully developed.
3. True or False. Children developed eye-hand and eye-foot coordination when they play games
and sports.
4. Fill in the blanks. ______ is the ability to cover a great distance in a possible short of time
5. What is motor skills development?
Answer:
1. True
2. False
3. True
4. Speed
5. Motor development skills include coordination, balance, speed, agility and power
