Cloud Security Ecosystem for Data Security

and Privacy

Abstract

To design and implement a health monitoring system which provides multiple

access privileges and send emergency alerts for the real-time data available on
wireless sensor network using cloud services.

Each node in WSN performs some sort of sensing, processing and transferring the
data. So there is need of efficient storage infrastructure to handle the data. Hence
the integration model using both the technologies, that is WSN and Cloud services
can help in designing a strong backbone architecture for developing sensor
application.

High data rate application like health monitoring generate bulk data. Each sensor
measures its metric and transmits the data at desired intervals which is updated
onto the cloud on timely basis. Based on the threshold levels set for the values
sensed, emergency alerts can be sent to the authorised user.

Thus, the patient’s record can be retrieved in a reasonable time period. The records
can be shared among other applications apart from the doctor; such as, medical
research team for further processing. Remote accessing of data helps the doctor
continue the treatment.

Background

The wireless sensors have a wide range of applications and the large amount
of data obtained from these sensor nodes should be managed effectively so that it
can be used for further studies and research. This motivated in integrating the WSN
with cloud framework.
A Health monitoring system is an efficient tool that can save human lives. It
is fully configurable and can be developed to your particular needs and
requirements, which makes it useful and cost-effective for both hospitals and
domestic use. Design and implementation of a real-time health monitoring system
is presented by using wireless sensors to measure the temperature and heart rate
values of the patients. These sensors are smaller in size and cost effective in
nature; thus comfortable in daily usage.

Drawbacks

The data collected is typed in a data entering terminal and is transferred to

the database server and can be accessed using the database interface. In the
above process there is a latency between the data collection and the data access.
This does not provide the real time monitoring of patient’s condition, and may also
contain errors due to the incorrect data entry to the terminal. Another problem is
that this process is tedious and needs a lot of manual work.

Proposed System

The aim of our proposed system is to design a health monitoring system

which includes two sensors viz., temperature and pulse sensor; Arduino Uno and
wi-fi module. The temperature and pulse of the patient is monitored continuously
and is transferred to the cloud storage using wifi technology. The data stored in the
cloud can be retrieved by authorized users when necessary and thus eliminating the
manual monitoring of these parameters. This model inherits the advantages of both
WSN and cloud computing providing efficient and powerful storage infrastructure to
handle the data obtained from WSN.

Advantages of the proposed system

The solution is to automate the process using wireless sensor network

and cloud computing.
