Charles Correa - Parekh House

The Parekh house in Ahmedabad, India was designed by Charles Correa in 1967-68 to be climatically responsive. It consists of two pyramidal sections - a summer section used during the day to protect the interior from heat, and a winter section used in the mornings and evenings to open the terraces to the sky. The design orients the three blocks of the house along an east-west axis to address sun exposure, and incorporates passive features like voids, louvers, and level changes to moderate the hot, dry climate.
