Sketchbook-Shape Shifters

This document provides directions for a sketchbook exercise focusing on shape, pattern, balance, and proportion/scale. Students are instructed to fill a page using one repeating shape, which can be overlapped to show depth using shading techniques. Additional shapes can be used as accents but the design should remain simple. Patterns, shading, and optional color can be added within the shapes or negative spaces. Various art tools may be used to complete the exercise.
