The raw materials had been used are Fructose, Ethanol, water (H 2O) Beaker,
Test tube, Measuring Cylinder, Thermometer, Magentic Stirrer, Spatula
and Filter Paper.
A 100g of fructose sample is weighted and put in 200ml beaker. Fill the
beaker with 100ml of distilled water and mixed the solution on the hot plate
until the solution is dissolve at 20℃.
The solution was filtered with filter paper and the mixture is dried at 50℃
for 2 hours in the oven.
The crystal sample is placed into the dessicator and the amount of fructose
and water mixture is observed and weighted.
The step is repeated for other solvent of water + ethanol
Analysis of Product
All the samples and final products are analyzed to find out their characteristics and
properties.
4.3.1 Particle Size Distribution for Crystal by Using Micro Sive shaker
1. 100g of fructose is weighted and grinded about 3 minutes.
2. The grinded fructose is placed in the micro sieve shaker with suitable
amplitude setted.
3. The amount of samples in each sieve of respected size is being weighted
and recorded.
Handling Electrical Equipments 2. Avoid instrumental contact with aquoeus solutions, check power cable for damage and do not
turn on the switch with wet hand to avoid short circuit.
3. Make sure all the electrical connection are tight, clean and dry.
1. Wear proper and full PPE during handling the glassware such as safety jacket, safety gloves,
safety goggles, safety boots as well as safety face masks.
2. Ensure the glassware is in a good condition and it is free from any cracks as well as it is not wet
Handling Fragile Glassware
and broke by double checking the glassware before, while and after using it.
3. Each of the glassware should only be use according to the procedures with proper method and
skills.
1. Wear proper PPE while handling hot equipment, object and surface such as wearing safety
jacket, thermal and heat resistant safety gloves, as well as safety boots.
2. Be extra care while handling with hot glassware, do not put the hot glassware near to the
Handling Hot Equipment/Objects/Surface explosive chemical or material to prevent any accident to happen.
3. If inadvertently touched the hot surface and burn the skin, immediately take the first aid and
apply the burned skin with cream and ask technician for further treatment.
4. Firefighting measures should be carried out effectively if there is any fire or explosion occurs.
1. Since the experiment is conducted by involving the uses of nitrogen gas, it is crucial to ensure
Nitrogen gas leakage
that all the connecting tube are properly sealed for leakage prevention.

2. Ensure that the tap must be always closed if the equipment does not involve with nitrogen gas.
1. Remove any obstacles that might disrupt the walkway and always ensure that the walkway is
free from any litters or unwanted object.
2. Ensure to always practice a good housekeeping skills. (clean any spillage that occur
Wet/Slippery Surface immediately and ensure that debris are sweep/mop.
3. Wear safety shoes with non-skid soles and keeps the floor and free from water.
4. Report to your supervisor or technician in charge if any repairing needed to nonslip tiling or other
non-slip floor product

During performing the experimental activity such as in the preparation of catalyst, there is a
LOW risk of contact with hazardous chemicals which is sulphuric acid (H2SO4) if all the
precautionary measures stated in Table 5a and 5c(handling) are followed well. Extra care must be
taken to avoid chemical spillage or other incident to happen, hence direct exposure to chemical
can be prevented. PPE must be worn at all time during conducting the experiment. Work in well-
ventilated area such as fume hood. Before starting any steps or process of procedures, ensure
that all apparatus and equipments must are in a good condition.
During sample analysis using the HPLC,FTIR and NMR, there is a LOW risk of contact with
chemical since the sample solution contains low concentration. Avoid aerosol and fume formation
by selecting a modertae strirring speed. Turn on the electrical appliance ONLY after all of the
component have been connected and the cables checked for any damage. To conduct the unusual
handle the equipment, please refer to the guideline book of the equipment or can be refer to
person in charge. Hence, the safety and precautions steps of overall risk assessment for this
procedure is LOW.
