8.5 Maintenance/Repair Check List

After any repair or maintenance the ventilator must be checked according to this maintenance/
repair check list.

Unit serial number Technician Date

8.5.1 High pressure leak test

O Connect a flowmeter (0-250 ml/min.) between the driving gas outlet and the driving gas
connector on the ventilator. Alternatively connect the driving gas connector on the ventilator
to Dameca test suitcase. Check that the flow is less than 10 ml/min.

Leakage Flow:__________ml/min.

8.5.2 Patient side leak test

1. Remove the lock-ring and the filter from the gas exhaust outlet and place a rubber stopper
in the outlet.
2. Connect a flowmeter (0-250 ml/min.) and a pressure gauge (0-80 cm H2O) to the outlet
of the ventilator.
3. Open the flowmeter slowly and maintain a pressure of 30 cm H2O.
4. Check that the flow is less than 50 ml/min.
5. Reinstall the filter and the lock-ring.

Leakage Flow:__________ml/min.

8.5.3. Safety valve

1. Place a pressure gauge (0-250 cm H2O) in the outlet of the ventilator.
2. Set the ventilator to max. flow and min. frequency.
3. Turn on the ventilator.
4. Check the safety valve opening pressure during inspiration. The pressure should be 100-125cm H2O.

Opening pressure:__________ cm H2O

8.5.4 Flow
1. Connect a flowmeter (0-60 ltr/min.) to the ventilator outlet.
2. Set the ventilator to max. flow and min. frequency.
3. Check that the inspiratory flow is 50 ltr/min. +/- 5 ltr/min.

Inspiratory flow:____________ ltr/min.

8-4 Jun. 98
Dameca Service Manual for MCM801

8.5.5 Frequency

1. Set the frequency control to 10 resp/min. and check that the frequency is 10 +/-1 resp/min.

2. Set the frequency control to 25 resp/min. and check that the frequency is 25+/-1 resp/min.

8.5.6 Mains failure alarm / battery condition

1. Set the volume control to min. and the frequency control to 25 resp/min.

2. Turn the ventilator on and check it operates normally.

3. Remove the mains cable from the mains outlet.

4. Check that the indicator changes from green to flashing red and that the audible alarm is
activated.

5. Let the ventilator run for ten minutes and check that the battery low alarm is not activated
during this period.

Note:
If the battery low alarm is activated during the test, charge the batteries for at
least 8 hours and repeat the test. If the problem persists, change the batteries.

8.5.7 Battery low alarm

1. Let the ventilator run on battery until the battery low alarm is activated (flashing red indicator
and continuous audible alarm).

2. Check that the ventilator is stopped in the expiratory phase, when the alarm is activated.
