the unique history of their past and this determines how they view the world. In fact, one of the tasks of

high school students is to explore and plan for their post-secondary career options  According to

Super’s (1990) Developmental Theory of Career Development, high school students are at the

exploration stage of career development, which involves crystallizing and specifying their occupational

preferences, while also making preliminary decisions about their career choice.

Choosing strand can help a student \ develop their knowledge for getting what they want to be in

college. Even before they arrive at senior high school, grade 10 students need to determine what

strand they should like in order to learn in advance for their upcoming college course.

Senior High School is now on its 4th year of implementation. With this, the

researchers want to know the reasons of the Grade 10 students in choosing their career

for the SHS towards college. If there are factors affecting their decision making

especially in choosing the career they opt to be in the near future. The chosen strand

defends on the student’s preference interest and capacities. Also, it will determine the

subjects to be taken by the students during their senior high school. The generalization of

this study would be a great contribution to the vast knowledge and relation to student’s

achievements.
