HMT Mod 5 Notes

The document outlines the syllabus for a heat and mass transfer module that covers various topics relating to radiation including: definitions of radiation concepts; properties of black bodies and real surfaces such as emissivity and absorptivity; laws governing radiation such as Stefan-Boltzmann, Planck's, and Wien's displacement laws; configuration factors; and heat exchange between surfaces using electrical analogies and charts. The module will also cover radiation shields and heat exchange between gray and non-black bodies of different shapes.
