1.1 INTRODUCTION
Monitoring and allocating computers in a cyber café has always been a problem since some
users are often picky when it comes to computer usage some might prefer other computers
may be due to performance or because they might have stored their files in those computers
hence there is the need to allow users to book for their computers and to also notify users if
their preferred computers will be available on that requested time.

1.2 PROBLEM DEFINITON

Due to the increase of users in the cybercafé usage despite the fact that people can have
internet access on their phones the cybercafés are facing challenges in the monitoring of Wi-
Fi also the increase in the number of application that can break through security codes are
making it hard for them to have control over their own internet. There is a challenge of
allocating computers since some users are picky when it comes to computer selection.

1.4 AIM

The aim of the project is to develop a web based App that will monitor the usage of network
for every users giving everyone minimum hours of internet access hotel

1.5 OBJECTIVES

a. To design a system that will generate daily passwords for every user.
b. To design a system that will automatically logout users if their allocated time slots is
depleted.
c. To design a system that will be enable the allocation and booking of free computers.
d. To develop a system that will allow users to pause and resume their time slot up until
their time slot is depleted.
e. To design a system that will enable the administrator to monitor the usage of network and
to view everyone who is connected

1.6 INTSRUMENTS AND METHODS

1.6.1 Instruments

In order to complete this system I have proposed to use a set of software applications i.e.

 Mozilla Firefox – it provides the users with a downloading option hence there is no need
for additional downloading application.
 Dream weaver version 8 – this is because it is a software package that contains PHP and
html which I am going to use when programing and designing web pages.
 XAAMP – this is a software package that contains the tools that I need to use as local
hosts and database i.e. Apache and MySQL.
 Microsoft office 2013 – it provides the developer with a quick and easy way of
documenting and demonstration information about the proposed system.

1.6.2 Methods
Questionnaires
 It is a set of questions printed which gives the responded to choose on the choice of
answering they are used for statistical purposes
Interviews
 This is a method of gathering data whereby there is direct communication between the
person answering questions and the person being asked
Observations
 It is an information gathering method whereby the researcher will just move around
noting down all the relevant information they want.

1.7 JUSTIFICATION AND RATIONALE


 Automatic logouts helps in minimising free access by users.
 The system will give the Cybercafé company an opportunity to better manage its
computers and to have better allocation of computers
 The system will give users an option to save their daily internet access time that they can
later use in the future
 The tools needed are free of charge.

1.8 CONCLUSION

The proposed system will be able to increase productivity and better resource management
the use of password generations and automatic logouts this will minimise unauthorised aces
to the internet.
