“I chose Manchester Law School to do
my degree as I was conscious that they
offered a part-time option and although
a number of other providers also offered
that option, I was really keen on having
the overall university experience, which
is certainly what I got here. The facilities
in the law school are superb, we have
a courtroom which is very useful for
things such as mooting and when you
do advocacy assignments, it really gives
you an authentic feel.

When I was on the degree, I was heavily

involved in the Law Society, which
organises guest speakers, mooting
competitions and a Law Ball. In my
role as a Pupil Barrister, the first thing
to say is that there is no typical week.
The nature of the role means it is very
unpredictable. My main area of practice
is Criminal Law and the nature of that
practice is that it is extremely dynamic,
so you have to expect the unexpected.
So far, I have observed a number of quite
serious cases, including a murder case
and fraud cases. I have also assisted on
two inquests so as you can tell the work
is very varied – but I love it!

I wholeheartedly recommend
Manchester Law School to anybody
who is considering attending. I had a
fantastic experience here and I have
maintained links with staff and friends.”
