This document describes a light detection circuit that uses a NAND gate chip. The circuit includes a light dependent resistor (LDR) that changes resistance based on light intensity, causing a LED to turn on when exposed to bright light. The circuit is built on a breadboard and uses resistors to regulate voltage and current flow. Potential applications of the simple light detection circuit include automatic appliance switching, security systems, and activating lights when doors or cabinets are opened.

• In this project, we will build a light detector circuit using a NAND
gate chip. A light detector circuit is a circuit that can detect light. When a bright light shines on the circuit, such as from a flashlight, we will make it so that a LED turns on. NAND GATE IC 740 CIRCUIT DIAGRAM LIGHT DEPENDENT RESISTOR
• An LDR is a component that has a (variable) resistance that changes
with the light intensity that falls upon it. This allows them to be used in light sensing circuits. A typical LDR. LDR Circuit Symbol. LIGHT EMITTING DIODE
• A light-emitting diode (LED) is a semiconductor light source that emits light
when current flows through it. Electrons in the semiconductor recombine with electron holes, releasing energy in the form of photons. • When a bright light shines on the circuit, such we will make it so that a LED turns on. RESISTOR
• The purpose of the resistor is to "drop" voltage
that is not required to operate the LED, when the LED is operating at the desired current. Here the resistors are 330ohms and 6.8kohms. BREADBOARD
• A breadboard is a solderless device for temporary prototype with
electronics and test circuit designs. WORKING
• photoresistor's resistance changes in proportion to the amount of light
it is exposed to. In darkness, it has very high resistance. In bright light, its resistance drops dramatically. If placed in a voltage divider circuit with a fixed resistor, we can exploit this resistance-altering behavior so that when connected to a NAND gate, we can produce a logic HIGH output when the photoresistor is exposed to bright light and a logic LOW output when the photoresistor is exposed to darkness. APPLICATIONS
• Simple Light Detector Circuit can be used in many applications like
automatic switching of appliances up on detecting light, security systems, etc. • This circuit can be used in alarm system, where increasing intensity of light will trigger the alarm. • It can also be used in cupboards or wardrobes. When the door is opened, the light will automatically turned on. OUTPUT
