● How well is the class doing as a whole group? Provide two statements.
As I class, I believe that there is a need for improvement because the data is a bit concerning
considering the data is mostly on the lower end. Typically an average of 75% or better is where
teachers like to see their numbers, this means a few kids performed very well, a few kids
performed poorly, then with the rest of the kids are somewhere in between. The average of the
class resulted in a 67% and six students had scored in the failing range. This means, either the
test needs to be re-evaluated or the kids aren’t understanding the material and the material may
need to be presented in a different way. Overall, the class data shows that a good handful of
questions had the result of low percentages. As a class, subtraction gave the students the most
issues so as the teacher I would re-evaluate how I am teaching subtraction and change some of
● Which individuals are doing well and in what topics? Describe at least 3 students.
It is clear by the data that Juan is doing great and has no trouble with the topics. His overall
average was 100% which means he scored correctly with each problem. Juan is confident with
his addition, subtraction and division skills. Besides Juan, Cody has the second best average with
a 93%. Cody is strong with his subtraction skills and needs a little help with his addition skills.
Hugh is also doing well. He was in the 80% range with his average. Hugh is stronger in addition
than subtraction but still maintained above the class average score.
● Who may need extra support and on what topics? Describe at least 3 students.
By looking at the data, there are a handful of students who may need some extra support and
clarification. Patrick received a 53% on his test which is below the class average. He missed
quite a few questions on the test, specifically the subtraction questions in particular. Even though
his subtraction accuracy is a low percentage of 33%, his addition percentage is around a 67%
which is still not ideal. Patrick may need to be given another approach to addition and
subtraction so that he is prepared for the next test. Carly hit right on the average with scoring a
67% on her test. Although this meets the class average a 67% is still very low. By looking at the
data, he percentages in addition and subtraction are not far off, but it seems as though she needs a
little extra focus on addition. Lastly, there is Nathan who unfortunately has the lowest average in
the class. Nathan missed a lot of questions on the test which resulted in him receiving a low
score. Looking at the data, Nathan does not seem to understand subtraction at all with only 17%.
Although his addition skills aren’t great as well, Nathan really needs to be taught a different
