QUESTION ONE (30mks)

a) Describe all Subsets of sets of real numbers (R) (3mks)


b) Solve the following equations:
i. |2x + 3| ≥ x – 4 (3mks)

ii. 8(1−x)=4(2 x+3 ) (2mks)

iii. 3 x 2+ 9 x + 4=0 (2mks)

5 x+3 y=12(1)
iv. Solve the following linear system {
7 x+2 y=19 (2)

v. plot the equations (1) and (2) in the sample plane of coordinates and find the
points P intersect line (1) and (2). (2mks)
c) Comment on your comparison in (iv) and (v) sub questions. (0.5mks)

iii. Find the length of the line and the midpoint of that line (2.5mks)
