Question 1:

In Hotel Dieu Hospital, we need all the components of an information system in order to succeed in
the medical field, such as: Hardware, data, software, people, and process.

Hardware: Equipment that process the data to create information, like computers, scanners,
printers, screens to improve the work in the hospital. We also need internal and external phones for
connection between nurses and the patients in the rooms, and the connection between people and
receptions for appointments and emergency calls. We need x-rays, medical scanners, blood
detectors so doctor can see the diagnoses of the patients.

Software: Is a set of instructions step by step that tells the hardware what to do and convert data to
information, like Microsoft Windows, Excel, Power point to enter the data, or like the accounting
system that helps us make bills for patients and show us the profit and loss of the hospital, and more
types of software.

Data: Is a powerful tool in the hospital which collects information about the patients like address,
history of medical information for the patients, phone numbers of patients, doctors, and suppliers.
Emails, and so many kinds of information in the hospital.

People: The most important component in my opinion, because they are the patients, doctors,
nurses, suppliers, programmers, workers, managers, owners who are running the hospital under
pressure because of the sensitivity needed to save patients life and treat them in the best way.

Process: Are rules or guidelines to follow the hardware and software, and policies that govern the
operation of a computer system, Which is very important especially in the hospital to keep all steps
going in the right way.

Question number 2:
Collaboration is the act of working together to achieve the same goal. In our class, we are asked to do
a semester project in groups, about any business idea that is related to our majors. This collaboration
is the best way to improve communication, critical thinking, and cooperation between the students.
The tools of collaboration are available on the internet like, Google Docs, Drop box, Skype, and
Survey Monkeys. On Google Docs we can work on the same document at the same time from
different locations. Skype can be used for a video call when we can't meet in order to discuss the ideas
face to face. The Survey Monkey is an important representation tool that will help us ask questions to
people, to test our theory, get statistics, data analysis, and its available for everyone because its free.
We used to message or chat on Whatsapp messenger to decide when and where to meet. All of us
worked on Google Docs and got the information ready. After we finished summarizing the
information, we saved all the work on the Drop box, and started to think what questions we should put
in the Monkey Survey. These Collaboration tools really helped us in making a successful semester
project, that made all our professors proud of us. Without these tools, I think people will suffer in
working in groups.
Question 4:
Version control allows you to manage changes over time, and you can also track revisions of your
project’s assets, it is a component of software configuration management. version controls capabilities
are:
User activity limited by permissions: Some users doesn’t have all the permission the account given;
they are only given a set of permissions. Like Documents for example, Read only permission for
documents, read and edit permission for documents, read edit delete permission from documents, you
don’t have any permission to see the documents.
Document Checkout: Users should check out documents before modifying, and when once it is
checked out, other users won't be able to edit until it is checked in. like in Microsoft SharePoint.
Version History: Hundreds of Documents are created because the collaboration involves feedback and
iteration. For example, a file name can be like (Files_4569_23_fjj_567).
Workflow Control: Are provided by collaboration tools, to manage activities.
Example: I am a user, and I want my document to be approved, the workflow could be defined to the
tool, and when the workflow is started, emails that manage the process will be sent as defined.
