Iot Health Fog
Internet of Things (IoT) is the emerging Technology and paradigm, which contains huge amount of
smart object and smart devices connected to the internet for communicating with each other. IoT
devices are used in many fields which make the users’ day to day life more comfortable. These smart
devices are used to collect temperature, pulse sensor , eye movements etc., which are used to
evaluate the health condition of the patient. Communicating the collected information to the doctor,
making accurate decision on the data collected and notifying the patient is the challenging task in the
IoT. In this paper, the architecture of the Patient Health Monitoring System using IoT devices is
proposed to collect the required parameters and evaluate the data obtained from the IoT devices.
PHMS also notifies the patient with possible precautionary measures to be practiced by them. This
system suggests the patient with medical care and next step to be followed in case of critical
situation. The PHMS system is evaluated for certain parameters and the decisions made on the data
obtained from the source are assumed to evaluate the system.
INTRODUCTION
Health is one of the global challenges for humanity. In the last decade the healthcare has drawn considerable
amount of attention. The prime goal was to develop a reliable patient monitoring system so that the healthcare
professionals can monitor the patients, who are either hospitalized or executing their normal daily life
activities. Recently, the patient monitoring systems is one of the major advancements because of its improved
technology. Currently, there is need for a modernized approach. In the traditional approach the healthcare
professionals play the major role. They need to visit the patient’s ward for necessary diagnosis and advising.
There are two basic problems associated with this approach. Firstly, the healthcare professionals must be
present on site of the patient all the time and secondly, the patient remains admitted in a hospital, bedside
biomedical instruments, for a period of time. In order to solve these two problems, the patients are given
knowledge and information about disease diagnosis and prevention. Secondly, a reliable and readily available
patient monitoring system (PMS) is required. In order to improve the above condition, we can make use of
technology in a smarter way. In recent years, health care sensors along with raspberry pi play a vital role.
Wearable sensors are in contact with the human body and monitor his or her physiological parameters. We
can buy variety of sensors in the market today such as ECG sensors, temperature sensors, pulse monitors etc.
The cost of the sensors varies according to their size, flexibility and accuracy. The Raspberry Pi which is a
cheap, flexible, fully customizable and programmable small computer board brings the advantages of a PC to
the domain of sensor network. In our system we are measuring patient’s parameters ( Temperature, heart rate,
pulse, Movement etc) with different available sensors. These sensors collected data i.e. biometric information
is given to raspberry pi and then it is transferred to server.

sensors on human body or sensors connected in our living environments, gathers information of our
physical health which helps in monitoring of a patient. It also reduces the cost of health care and
simultaneously improving outputs very efficiently. This paper focus on the opportunities and
challenges for IoT in improving this vision of the future of health care.[1]

objects with identification collects the information and can make communication and transfer of data
over a network without any human or computer interactions. Different devices such as remote
sensors, low energy blue-tooth and smartwatch is used in the system. The system is efficient, cost is
reduced and has been tested in a rehab center and accuracy of 84% has been achieved .The system
can be developed in home with minimum costs.[2]

IEEE “Enabling Smart Personalized Healthcare: A Hybrid Mobile-Cloud Approach for ECG
Telemonitoring” The challenges in healthcare system are to develop a system with more accuracy,
flexible, affordable which can gather correct information and can make accurate medical diagnosis
for giving a proper treatment. Hybrid mobile cloud computing has been developed which is the best
solution for diagnosis and efficiency point of view. A case study of mobile-cloud based
electrocardiograph monitoring and analysis is studied and developed. The limitations such as
computational power, storage space, and battery life of mobile devices make it inefficient to use
those mobile devices for computation and further processing .[3]

METHODOLOGY:
Wearable Active and Assisted Living System
we propose a portable and customizable IoT system that can be used to collect the data
needed to facilitate the independent living of senior and challenged citizens to improve
their quality of life. The proposed system design philosophy targets having a low-
power system that can be worn during the day and be turbo charged as necessary. The
system is designed to be light and comfortable to wear. Furthermore, the system is
implemented using low-cost components, which makes it an affordable system. An
overview of the proposed wearable IoT system . The system is composed of six main
components that are described as follows.
In this project we are also monitoring the room environment like temperature and C02
content, this value will be uploaded to cloud through IoT. And the parameters are
compared with the data present in the database and provide the probabilities of daises
caused and particular precaution should be taken during such situations.

requirements provided to patient based on the room condition and patient parameters .
EXPECTED OUTCOME:
As health care services are important part of our society, automating these services lessen the burden
on humans and eases the measuring process. Also the transparency of this system helps patients to
trust it. When threshold value of the room temperature and CO2 content reached, the system that
alerts the Patient to take required precautions and he can act more quickly. The objective of
developing monitoring systems is to reduce health care costs by reducing physician office visits,
hospitalizations, and diagnostic testing procedure.
