Daewoo Fault Codes

This document provides instructions for reading diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) from the check engine light on vehicles without an OBD2 port, using jumper wires to connect directly to the diagnostic port terminals. The check engine light will flash codes that correspond to faults, with a pause between the tens and ones digits. The document also includes a table listing many common OBD1 fault codes.

How to read codes (No Special Tools Needed)

1 If possible run the engine to bring the oxygen sensor up to operating temperature then
switch the engine off.

2 Connect the terminals using your own jumper wire as shown in the diagram above.

3 Turn ignition ON, the Check Engine Light (CEL) should be flashing.

4 Read codes as described in the Code Format Description below.

Fault Code Description

 Each code is made up of two series of flashes.

 The first series indicates the 'tens' digit.

 The second series indicates the 'ones' digit.

 A long pause separates each code.

 A shorter pause separates the 'tens' and 'ones'.

 Code Format Diagram shows code No. 32.

 The first code "flashed out" is always code 12 (System Pass).

 If Code 12 repeats at least 4 times in a row there are No Codes in memory

 Codes repeat 3 times each, and then the next code repeats 3 times...

 Codes follow OBD1 Vehicle code system.

Code Erasing Procedure

Remove the double fusible link OR number 3 fusible link for 30 seconds.
