Specifications for cementing design
Part 1: Inner string cementing
1 Scope
This part specifies the technical requirements on inner string cementing design for oll and gas wells.
Itis applicable to the inner string cementing design for conventional well cementing and provide a
reference for the inner string cementing design for unconventional well cementing such as shallow
{gas and thermal recovery wells.
2. Normative references
The following documents, in whole or in part, are normatively referenced in this document and are
indispensable for its application. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated
references, the latest edition of the referenced document (Including any amendments) applies.

3. Terms and definitions
For the purpose of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
34
stab-in stinger
Advice for inner string cementing, whose upper part is connected with the drill pipe and, the lower
part is a sealing adaptor for engaging with the float shoe or float collar.
3.2
inner string
A string is made up of a stab-in stinger at the bottom and drill pipe upward on a fixed drilling rig,
while for a floating drilling rig is made up of dril pipe and casing running tools
3.3
drill pipe centralizer
A device for centralizing the drill pipe so that the stab-in stinger sealing adaptor can engage with
float shoe and collarQUHS YF 218.1-2013
4 Design principle
The design shall meet the requirements of exploration, development and drilling engineering with
the objective of preventing lost circulation and over displacement while isolating the formations.
5 Design basis
5.1 General
The cementing design shall be based on the well geological and drilling engineering design, actual
drilling data and data of offset wells.
5.2 Information for the design
5.2.1 Table 1 shall be used as a checklist for collecting the basic information for the design.

6 String assembly
6.1 Inner string assembly for fixed drilling rig is: stab-in stinger + drill pipe/HWDP.
6.2 Inner string assembly for floating drilling rig is: drill pipe + running tools + HWDP. The open
‘ended drill pipe shall be at least 15 m above the float shoe.
6.3 Fixed drilling rig conductor (casing) string assembly is:
a) Stab-in float shoe + conductor (casing), and
b) Float shoe + casing + stab-in float collar + casing.
6.4 Conductor/casing string assembly for floating rig is: float shoe + casing.
7 Casing accessories
7A The steel grade and thread type of casing accessories shall match with those of the casing,
The top of the stab-in float shoe/ collar shall be tapered.
7.2 The outside diameter of the drill pipe centralizer shall match with the inner diameter of the
‘conductor/casing, There is a rule of thumb to be met, that is: inner diameter of conductor/casing <
outside diameter of drill pipe centralizer_
