4. GUIDELINES TO CARRY OUT THE LAB

 To go through the basic theory of the experiment prior to perform the experiment.
 To learn the procedure and working principle of the machine and its components.
 To perform the experiment in sequential order as prescribed for the experiment.
 To prepare the job and check the specifications.
 To prepare the file for the experiment performed.

1. To study different types of measuring tools used in metrology and determine least

count of vernier calliper, micrometer, and vernier height gauges.


2 To study different types of machine tools (lathe, shaper or planer or slotter, milling ,

drilling machines)
3 To prepare a job on a lathe involving facing, of side turning, taper turning, step

turning, radius making and parting off.


4 To study different of fitting tools and marking tools used in fitting practice
5 To prepare joints for welding suitable for butt – welding and lap welding.
6 To perform pipe welding using gas welding tools.
7 To study different of carpentry tools.
8. To prepare horizontal surface/vertical surface / slots or V-grooves on a shaper / planer.
9. To prepare a job involving side face on a milling machine.
10. To prepare a T-joint and cross join as per drawing.
