Economics - Project - X 2020-21

Mr. Mehra visited a shoe shop and was persuaded by the salesperson to buy shoes that were too big by claiming they would fit after wearing socks. When he tried the shoes at home, they were still too big. The shop promised an exchange for smaller shoes when available but never provided the exchange despite Mr. Mehra's repeated follow-ups over a year. The document provides instructions for a school project on consumer awareness, rights, and responsibilities. Students are directed to create a handwritten file with sections covering topics like forms of consumer exploitation, factors causing exploitation, consumer rights and duties, and the need for consumer protection laws.

ECONOMICS PROJECT WORK

CLASS X (2020-21)
“Mr Mehra visited a shop to buy a pair of shoes. The salesperson persuaded him to buy a pair
of bigger sized shoes by claiming that the size would be suitable for him after wearing a pair
of socks. Mr Mehra agreed and paid Rupees 10,000 for the shoes. Upon reaching home, he
tried out the shoes and discovered that they were still too big for him. Mr Mehra went back to
the shop and was informed that they would provide him with an exchange to a pair of smaller
sized shoes when there was available stock. However, Mr Mehra was not able to exchange
the shoes even after multiple follow-ups with the salesperson. He has since waited for more
than a year.”
