SUMMARY: This TIP tells how to use the LCE computer display to read fault codes on a
Kone® HS hydraulic system and provides a comprehensive list of fault
codes.

How to Read Fault Codes on the Kone® HS Hydro

1. Press the M E N U button until “E” appears in menu display.

2. Press arrow button until “1” appears in the submenu window.

3. Then press the A C C E P T button to show the current fault. The current fault code
will be displayed in the value window.

4. Use the down arrow button to display the previous fault codes.

Table 1 explains the available fault codes.

How to Reset Faults

1. While in the fault log, press the M E N U button once to back out to the sub-menu.

2. Press the up arrow button once to advance the sub-menu to 2.

3. Press the A C C E P T button—the value shown will be 0.

4. Press the up arrow button again to display a 1 in the value window.

5. Press the A C C E P T button to cancel all faults. The fault log will show 0 if no further
faults exist.

1 Drive Timeout Going Up—Similar To Low Oil Timer
4 Synchronization Failed on Three Consecutive Drives
7 Door Zone Switch Stuck
8 NVRAM Memory Failed
20 SHAFT_INFO Missing
21 Break In the Safety Chain—Usually a Stop Switch or Inspect (when Run button not
released)
22 Hall Door Contact (LD_INFO) Opened while Moving
23 Car Door Contact (CD_INFO) Opened while Moving
25 Not Start Permit
44 Door Close Operation Failed—Too Many Tries
45 SS_INFO Lost, Aux Door Close Contacts Open
46 Door Contacts Do Not Match (CD_INFO and LD_INFO)
48 Reopen Device Active More Than 1 Minute
49 Door Close Took Too Long, Door Timed Out
51 Drive Start Failed (this error code may not be used yet)
52 BS1 and TS1 Switches Open At Same Time
53 Pump (up drive) Start Failed—START_INFO or DELTA Feedback Invalid
54 Hot Oil Overload (TUS tripped)
55 RPR or OLR Relays Tripped
56 PPS Tripped (Positive Pressure Switch)
57 UPX Failure

63 Door Bypass Switch Faulty (CDB_INFO or LBD_INFO stuck on while not on Inspect;
i.e., while NORM_INFO is on)
64 ESX Feedback Failed—Something Wrong with the Emergency Stop Switch Bypass
Relay
65 NORM Relay Failed—NORM_INFO and NRM_RLY_INFO Do Not Agree
66 Hoistway Access Feedback on while on Inspect (i.e., while NORM_INFO is on)
67 HAS Relay Failed—HAS_INFO and HA_INFO Do Not Agree
70 Leveling System Failure
71 LRE (ZLU) Leveling Unit Failure
72 LRU (ULU) Leveling Unit Failure
73 LRD (DLU) Leveling Unit Failure
77 Door Open Limit Switch Stuck Off (never indicates fully open, DO3 stuck on)
78 Down Stop Overtravel—DS1 Open
79 Up Stop Overtravel—US1 Open
81 Releveling Failed (this error code may not be used)
81 Releveling Failed (this error code may not be used)
83 Position Lost—Car Must Seek Bottom or Top Floor
84 Door Open Limit Stuck On (always indicated fully open)
86 Start Permit Continuously On
87 CD_INFO Stuck On (always indicates door is closed)
88 LD_INFO Stuck On (landing door contact stuck closed)
89 LCR (Lock Check Relay) Relay Feedback Failed; LCR Relay Bad
95 LD_INFO Stuck On. Normally impossible due to safety chain wiring, which requires
LCE operation to detect, also logs error 88 instead. Could happen due to short in the
door wiring.
