What type of app do you want to make?

From my research and surveys, I have found out that many people like to play quiz and puzzle apps. As this type of app is both entertaining and
educational. With science as my favorite class and science summative coming up soon, I decided to make an app that helps the user to get a better
score in science class. To do this I will create a science quiz app which reviews multiple topics that we have covered in science class. These topics
are the most basic knowledge needed for science class including topics on cell cycle, cancer and photosynthesis. By using this app users will be
able to review their knowledge of science on varied topics and earn a high mark in science class.

Features:
● This app will help users in science
● It will have a lot of quiz and puzzle
● Product must be appealing to my target audience
● My app will be free
● The app will be both entertaining and educational
● This product will be available for everyone
● The app will have simple and calm look
● With calm color themes and background
● It will help a lot of people in education
● It will be interesting and new
● The coding are not too complicated
● There are multiple screen page
● I must decide my final design from many initial designs
● Different types of app than other people in the class
● It will use bold and unique fonts (if the design has fonts)
● It will be easy to used and play
● The instruction are clear for user

Rough Process: After the inquiry and analysis stage and research, I will create many different initial designs with the users need in mind. From
here I will choose my final design and create a working drawing, annotating the features thoroughly. Next I will learn about the coding and the
function of the app. After creating the final product, I will evaluate by performing my tests mentioned in my specification.

Timescale: The entire project must be completed by February 21st, which is the end of the unit. I will stay organized and create a timetable of
what needs to be completed each lesson to finish on time.

Target User: From much research, I can say that my target user is anyone who wants to practice their knowledge for science in an entertaining
way. Users who want to review various topics in science and want to improve their science score.

users to remember and understand their topic better.

The app would be simple and easy to understand. Have 3 people test the app for 3 minutes each and report back if each user
understands and knows how the app works.

My app quiz will be challenging for users to answer. Have 3 people test the app for 3 minutes each and record how many questions they
answer correctly. Atleast ¼ of the answers would be incorrect.

In this strand you will come up with at least 4 app ideas and describe them in detail. For the description include: 1) the function of the
app(what will it do?) 2) the potential interface(describe the menu/layout etc.) and 3) why you think it will be popular.

APP IDEA DESCRIPTION APP IDEA VISUALIZATION

(paste an image you drew on Google Draw or sketch

on a piece of paper)

An app that will quiz the things we learn in science each quarter this year. The layout
will be different categories with different questions. It will have multiple answers for
the user to choose. It will be downloaded because it will help the users to do science
summative and be a good review for users.
An app that will recommend the best gift for your friend. You will answer multiple sets
of questions like your friend age, personalities, prices of the gift, etc. The app will
analyze and generate an answer. The layout will be selecting an answer from multiple
choices to a question. It will be downloaded because it helps users to select what gift
they should give to others based on their personalities.

An app that allows users to find house-keepers. It will be a social media where you
can post what you require or seek in a house-keeper, the prices you are willing to pay
and what you want them to do. When posted people can see and select if they
wanted the job or not, then you can message them about the details of the work. The
layout will be selected from multiple choices. It will be downloaded because it helps
users to find a house-keeper in an easy way.
An app that will allow users to consult with doctors that are on the app. Users can ask
questions and get responses from doctors and even book an appointment with the
doctor. The layout of the app will be multiple screens with a main of choosing a doctor
for your needs. There would be multiple doctors for each type of concern. The next
screen would be messages, users can communicate with the doctor and get the
latest updates from the field of medical science. It will be downloaded because users
can consult with the doctor on their phone from their without needing to go to the
hospital.

27/1/20 I create a homepage where users can select to do the quizzes, create a room
for multiple players or see the score and level of their friends. The app name
is called “Smarter with Science” written on top of the screen.

29/1/20 I create a page where when the users first enter the app, they can type their
own name which will be displayed in the app.

1/2/20 I create a page where users can choose a topic to quiz on when the button
“quiz” is pressed. There are 4 science topics the quiz is available for:
Ventilation, Cancer, Cell Cycle and Photosynthesis. With the home button at
the bottom of the screen, when pressed it will guide the user to the homepage.
3/2/20 I create a page where the users will have to write down an answer for the
given questions. This is the question page for “Ventilation”. There are 3
questions in total, when the answers are correct the next question will pop up.

6/2/20 I create a page where the users will have to write down an answer for the
given questions. This is the question page for “Cancer”. There are 4 questions
in total, when the answers are correct the next question will pop up.
9/2/20 I create a page where the users will have to write down an answer for the

SELF-ASSESSMENT
I think my app will satisfy the needs of the client because with the help of this app users will be able to review their science knowledge and be
more familiar with scientific words and improve their memory. With quizzes repeated over some time, users will get to recognize the question
more allowing the users to remember the question better. This app allows the users to be able to review science concepts for their summative on
their phone anywhere without needing to use multiple paperwork or books. It is easier to review science on this app because new generations
people carry phones everywhere meaning the users can be reviewing on this app everywhere and anytime.

State at least four changes that you made and explain why you made the changes. Here you can write about features that you changed
or omitted entirely.

Modification Explanation for Modification

User profile name I made some modifications allowing the users when first entered the app they are able to set their own
profile name either as their real name, nickname or any name they wanted to be known as. This allows
the users to insert their own taste and identity to the app making it more lively and appeal to the user
better.
Answer option/choices The original design consisted of multiple answer choices where users can select one answer out of four
available but due to the lack of skill set I have to make a modification to that design. Changing the
multiple answer choices to a simple question and typing answer. Where users are just allow to type in
the answer to the question which the answer needed to be exactly identical to the answer coded.

Quiz topic As the original design topic for quizzes from forces and chemical compounds I change it to ventilation
and cancer. I made this modification because these topics are more recent as the users will be able to
remember these topics better. With these topics being new and will be in the summative, users will
need to review and be more familiar with these topics more than the original topic chosen.

Homepage From the original design there will only be two main screens as the question screen and the quiz as the
homepage. Originally the homepage is the topic selection where users are able to choose what topic
quizzes they want to do. From this I made some modifications, adding more screens allowing the users
to be able to insert their name in the profile and new homepage. In the new homepage where there will
be more option for the user to do such as editing their profile, comparing their score with their friend
on the app, being in a big group and do quizzes.

Outlines how the solution could Describes how the solution could Explains how the solution could
be proved be improved be improved

Grade:

For this strand you will write about how your product could be improved. Imagine you have greater resources or a larger skill set.

POSSIBLE IMPROVEMENTS
Timer for quiz: As the original design allows the user to take as much time needed to solve the quiz this causes some users to cheat and search for
answers online. To solve these issues with a larger set of skill sets I will make a small modification, adding a timer to the quiz. With each question
having a timer, it causes the users to think faster to answer each question. The timer can have an effect on the score received for answering the
quiz, with a shorter amount of time taken, the higher the score the users will receive.

Multiple answer choices: As the original design only accepted answer that has the exact same spelling, spacing and capitalise with the chosen
answer. This causes a lot of issues as some users do not know how to spell the answer correctly. With a larger skill set I will make little
modification to the design, allowing users to pick a correct answer from 4 available answer options.

Users profile: With a larger skill set I will make a modification for the user to be able to select their profile picture with 5 available pictures. This
will allow the user to play and customize the app into their own styles. With ability for the users to write down their own name used in the app,
whether it’s their real name, nickname or whatever they wanted to be called by.

Users levels in the app: The average of each correct answer chosen gaining 5 points and each incorrect answer chosen losing 2 points. With a
larger skill set I will make a modification of every 10 points earned from answering the correct answer on the quiz, user levels will increase by 1.
This will make the user more into the app, trying to answer the quiz faster and more accurately to earn more points, being able to compare your
level with your friend.

The original feature (some): In the original chosen design there are multiple features that I was not able to code. With a larger skill set I will
include those features in my app. Those features are the ‘statistical feature’ where users can see the statistics of correct and incorrect answers
chosen throughout the app. The ‘history feature’ where users can see the amount of time they have chosen to do quizzes on each topic per set
amount of time. The ‘clock feature’ where users can see the amount of time (minute) they spend on each topic quizzes per set amount of time. The
‘hints feature’ where they are obtained by answering 3 questions correctly in a row correctly. When used, one of the incorrect answers will be
revealed making it easier for the user to answer.Feature where it shows the amount of questions the topic has and how many questions are
answered. Finally, the last feature when the correct answer is selected, a big green word that says “CORRECT” will appear. When the answer is
incorrect, the letter is red and says “INCORRECT”.

Describe in detail if you think your app met the needs of the user. Consider the following questions:
● To what extent has the client’s or target audience’s problem been solved?
● How does this solution improve the client’s or target audience’s situation?
● To what extent has the design brief been met?

EXPLAINING THE IMPACT

In my opinion I think my app has met the needs of the user as the target audience’s problem has been solved to a great extent. With this app serves
as a solution improving the target audience’s situation, users are able to remember more scientific concepts and be more familiar with each topic
than before. With time users are able to answer more questions correctly as they are more used to each question and can remember about science
better. With various topics to review users are able to improve their knowledge widely to more topics in less time.

The design brief has been met greatly as the app is both entertaining and educational. With a science quiz app that helps the user to get a better
score in science class. The science quiz app reviews multiple topics that have been covered in science class. Including topics which are the most
basic knowledge needed for science class such as topics on cell cycle, cancer and photosynthesis. My design brief has been met as users will be
able to review their knowledge of science on varied topics and earn a high mark in science class.
